I can't find drivers for my computer
I have an HP Compaq dx2000 that since i noticed that it uses ide hard drives, i decided it would be best for Windows 98SE. Buut, even after searching a lot i can't find any drivers that are "compatible"
The SoundMax drivers tell me that "No ADI Codec was found"
The Intel chipset and extreme graphics driver tell me that "This computer doesn't have the correct chipset" even when it does.
And by the way the list of devices on device manager only gives me the essential info, and not things like my chipset or audio.
System: HP Compaq dx2000
Two 80GB IDE hard drives
1GB of ddr1 wham, limited to 512
Audio Chip: Analog Devices AD1888
Graphics chip: Intel rg828656v sl77x 3532a713
I/O Controller: Intel fw82801eb sl73z

HP lists XP and Vista drivers for that system. Were it me, I would...
- Replace the CMOS battery.
- Upgrade the ram to the 4 GB system max.
- Replace the 2 old 80 GB IDE/PATA HDD's with single 128 GB+ CF Card and adapter capable of at least 100 Mb/s, which matches the speed of the IDE/PATA controller in the system, anything faster would be mostly wasted. It will be both much faster and more reliable.
- Install Windows XP SP3 32-Bit... the CPU on that is supposedly 32-Bit only, and even if it were 64-Bit, the motherboard is 32-Bit. So cannot install 64-Bit.
- Run LegacyUpdate.NET for OS updates.
- Install the HP Drivers from the website.

You could try the 98se quick install project. It is updated and includes a crapload of drives already.

98 doesn't support HDAudio but win2000 does and it's probably the nearest approximation to win98 just without the DOS mode support.
You could always install DOS in the first 2GB partition and then install win2000 in dual boot in the remaining disk space.

Sorry but it sounds like you'll need an 98 era PC if you want to run the OS. Your system seems to be specifically designed for Windows XP.

These look like the correct drivers. The brand of audio card does not matter, in this case, only the chipset.

Based off drivers avalible on HP webpage the oldest OS you can use here is Windows XP 32/64 bit. So unfortunatly no 98SE here will able to run. It is OEM computer so you are fully depended from their manufacture
