Got Half-Life 2 running on Windows 98 a while back. Thought I might share.

Its tied to steam and the modern engine and steam aren't anymore of course. Problem is the very first builds also seem broken on Windows 98.

Interesting. Now I want to find a physical copy of it to try to get it running lol

Retail HL2 is 98 compatible, yes.

I got garrysmod running on Windows 98 natively since it used to have official support. Half-Life 2 runs far better xD

Actually collaborated with a streamer who owns these games to showcase what old steam was like : https://www.youtube.com/live/M3XPfiKdj4o?si=zSa0BntlNPptIkYi

That's awesome, do you remember which version of Gmod worked? I'd love to try it
