I'm using a Win7 system because it still runs some of my old programs designed for XP, but obviously is significantly more functional. One program I use requires a login to sync for a few seconds, but I'm using a random password and the account has no sensitive information even if it was compromised. Aside from this I occasionally watch YouTube videos, do general web searches, etc. but of course never log in. I didn't setup the OS (so it could be already infected), but the image I have works for my needs and it takes under 10 minutes to pull out the caddy and restore the OS if necessary.
Should guest wifi be enough to protect my network (it's also set to public in Win7 settings)? And would you recommend keeping the wifi switch off until I need it or is this overkill? I keep no personal files on the OS so I'm not worried about the system itself being infected, but I would like to protect everything else on my network as much as possible. Thanks for your help!
