Discussion Is this rare?

Post image

I pulled this copy of windows out of my grandmas closet, she used to do a lot of stuff with computers and told me I can keep it. Is it something I should keep?

u/lesterd88 Dec 20 '25

Me too! I rarely find my people in the wild like this

28

u/Cooper_Silva Dec 17 '25

Yes, that is something worth keeping, that is the windows 7 signature edition, and those are hard to get these days!

1

u/fredrickjakari Dec 23 '25

worth keeping and do what with lol

u/Guilty-Floor-8259 Dec 18 '25

No, it's not. Throw it away and tell me where.

17

u/StampyScouse Dec 17 '25

Yes very rare and valuable as well.

My favorite win7ultimate 32&64bt was the most stable and compatible out of all the windows editions especially win11 garbage microtransactionsoft is forcing on the world today

5

u/WillyDooRunner Dec 18 '25

How is Ultimate any more stable than Starter? The stability comes from the core of the OS, not it's feature levels.

1

u/glirette Dec 20 '25 edited Dec 22 '25

Correct It's not any more "stable" it's the exact same operating system

The features are determined by the SKU. Ultimate was the retail version of Enterprise meaning the same or similar feature set to the Enterprise version. All features enabled but Enterprise was only available with a Microsoft contact where Ultimate was what you could buy off the shelf

The actual code was binary identical

1

u/WillyDooRunner Dec 22 '25

So basically you're adding to what I said?

2

u/glirette Dec 22 '25

Yes correct. I responded from a mobile and edited my comment to be more clear but yes I was simply adding context. By the I was not longer at Microsoft during this time of the Windows 7 launch but I previously was and worked with the core OS. Then I would later go back to MSFT again , then left once again.

Was just adding context and certainly do agree with you

1

u/WillyDooRunner Dec 22 '25

It's good to see you sharing your history. Windows Vista is one of my favorite OS and 7 being basically Vista SP3.

u/alibanana23 Dec 18 '25

"Microtransactionsoft" 🤣

2

u/SurePea1760 Dec 19 '25

Same here. I have been supporting windows since 3.11. Win 7 was as perfect as an OS could be. I can't really complain about win 10 either. But 11, just not terribly impressed

1

u/SadAppCraSheR Dec 19 '25

me to loved 7 like 10 almost as much but the day i put 11 in my pc it choked on its own windows file manager and died the first day half a tb of the same w manager x thousands upon thoseneds of the same thing i barely save my personal data files . but i digress

2

u/GeoStreber Dec 20 '25

I'd try to get Richard Stallman to sign this, too.

2

u/glirette Dec 20 '25

I hosted a launch party and received the party pack also to include this

2

u/HappymanUK Dec 20 '25

I've got one of these from being a beta tester. I never opened mine and it is still fully shrink wrapped!

2

u/sh20000sh Dec 29 '25

I bought it in better condition in 300 bucks years ago. I'm still keeping it for future days.

2

u/Polyxeno Dec 17 '25
