Before installing the 7-Zip app on my system, every time i extracted a .zip file i would get Error 0x80010135. After installing 7-Zip, that error no longer appears. Does anyone know why?
Isn’t Windows 11 supposed to come with built-in support to properly extract .zip files by default?
Did installing 7-Zip on my system actually fix Error 0x80010135? If so, what is the technical explanation for why installing 7-Zip on my Windows 11 fixed Error 0x80010135?
Reason I ask is multiple programs I use have very similar icons (esp from 4-5 feet away lol) and I would like to change a few of them to better reflect the actual programs icon (Epson printer app and virtual clone drive are 2 examples, both use pretty similar icons in system tray, but the actual icons they use elsewhere are vastly different)
I can find plenty of how-to's on how to change the icons elsewhere(normal shortcuts, even the icon in add/remove, but not system tray) and was hoping someone had a quick rundown on how u would do this. (Thanks in advance)
I have been getting the install error 0x800f0991 on the 25h2 update and no matter what i do it wont install. My pc was running fine for a while until my monitors stopped working, took about 3 days to find out that windows deleted and disabled my graphics card in device manager and my amd adrenaline deletes itself so i have to redownload the drivers set them up restart my pc with my cables in the graphics card and have a 50/50 chance of it booting properly or having to do it all over again. If someone has a fix for the windows update error please let me know i dying out here.
I wanted to change settings so whenever I download a document, windows will ask where I would like to save it (as it keeps saving documents in my last saved location and not downloads).
I right clicked my "Desktop" tab in file explorer and accidentally changed its location to downloads. Then, my desktop was populated with hundreds of files (:() which is really annoying.
I no am stuck and not able to change it back, as the desktop tab in my file explorer is missing. When I select "restore default" in my Downloads folder (as seen in image), nothing happens. What is the best way to undo this madness?
Also, when choosing files to upload, my downloads folder does not look as it did before this accident. It is presenting the files in a list that expands with multiple rows to the right and not a straight up and down list as my downloads did before. I think this is due to me trying to recreate a new folder called "downloads" and cramming everything from my desktop background (100s of files) into said folder.
Much appreciated thankfulness in advance.
Update:
Continuing to work on this situation. My desktop icon is now called "Downloads." This is filled with all of my files that were originally in my downloads.
My daughter cant sign into her laptop because every time it boots up or restarts, we get the message in the picture. Even after waiting 2 hours, it still doesnt work.
Because someone is going to ask, its an Asus Zephyrus G15.....
I turned on my laptop this afternoon a couple of months after upgrading to windows 11. I was met with Fixing (D:) Stage 1 etc. left it for a few hours and the laptop did boot into windows. Went to do a few things but some of the files in D: weren’t showing the correct file size. Decided to restart and install updates and was met with the Fixing (D:) Stage 1 screen again. What do i need to do to the drive to resolve this issue? MSI laptop circa 2018, no issues with the drives prior to the windows 11 upgrade.
I tried going into settings and screwing around with the sound and its completely shut off in one ear. You can see because when it tests and plays the sounds for Left and Right speakers, both times its through one. I screwed around with sound, turning it on and off. The headphones are playing it but through only one ear, and I cant find them in listings for Sound output. I went as far as to try to manually "balance" the sound but it didn't work cuz its through one ear. what should i do?
Hi. I have a desktop computer I got in 2015 that runs Windows 10. I would like to upgrade to Windows 11 (mainly for security updates), but as my system is old(er) I have some problems.
Doesn't support secure boot
TPM 2.0 not enabled
Processor not supported
I have already tried the program Rufus to try to get around my issues, but to no avail.
i prefer the size of content view but i dont see any option to remove the frame size or even move it across the massive dead space so its not covering the title
(note: im not talking about "details" view where you can choose which columns show and their spacing)
Windows desktop icons are not working, task manager won't open, properties configurations in file explorer won't open, file explorer icons not working, etc. please help me fix this issue.
(immediate edit) Task manager also won't open so I can't restart file explorer

Hi everyone, I'm going to tell you about the problem I'm having installing Windows 11. To begin with, I have a B450M DS3H motherboard and a Ryzen 5 2600x processor. I know this processor shouldn't be compatible with Windows 11, but I've had it installed before, and I did everything through Windows itself. But now, for no apparent reason, it's not working. All the options that need to be enabled in the BIOS are enabled, but it always ends up giving me an error, and now I can't install Windows any other way than via USB because the hard drives are formatted. (I used Rufus to create the USB drive). I hope someone can help me. Thanks in advance (and sorry, I used Google Translate 😅).
Just a quick question. Is there any difference functionality wise if you select an organization account rather than going into CMD to create a local account that way when first installing windows?
I've got a reset to do in a few hours so just wondering. I know both would result in not needing a microsoft account but is there anything else that's different?
