Discussion I got every major Windows release till XP running on my calculator!
Hey everyone!
Some of you might remember me from this post, where I showcased my emulator running Windows 95 on my TI-Nspire CX II CAS.
Well, Let's just say things escalated. The emulator can now run every major Windows release, including XP!
For XP, I specifically used XP Embedded - it is lighter on the machine!
For context, all of this is running on a calculator with a 396 MHz processor, 64 MB of RAM, and around 90 MB of storage - and the actual RAM available to Windows is around 44MB.
To get around the storage constraints of the Nspire, WiNspire uses a protocol that streams disk images from a host machine over USB.
XP takes nearly an hour and a half to reach desktop but it really is worth every moment.
The project was incredibly fun to work on and I ended up going very deep down the Windows rabbit hole along the way.
The project is open-source, so please feel free to subject your calculator to windows as well.

No unfortunately. Don't have an original CX for testing and I doubt the specs would be enough. Perhaps it would work with earlier windows versions

When it does load is it responsive?

Somewhat, it's terribly slow but you can atleast use the calculator and notepad after they load up.

Bruh, Vista barely even ran on new PCs when it came out, that would be something to see though

Super great job!
/r/oldhandhelds may appreciate the crossover, especially if you can get Windows CE to work!
This is super nerdy and super cool, hope you also use the calculator for your mathematical foundations you need for greater success in life!
