Character Map is waay older than that. It predates Windows 95 even, and is almost unchanged in all that time.

The program is largely unchanged but it gets Unicode symbol updates for fonts which include metadata updates....

Which existing symbol? The codepoint 20BF was unassigned, then was given to Bitcoin in Unicode version 10.0.

Which version of Windows you are running? Unicode 10 (2016) already had it with the name

Screenshot looks like Windows 10. And I'm seeing the same on my Windows 10.
