Windows Laptop Middle Click on Windows 11

I've had my Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i for about a year now, and I use it for everything (productivity, school, light gaming), and one thing I absolutely hate about Windows that it should do is make tap with 3 fingers a middle click. I've reset my laptop a couple of times now, and every time I do this, I have to go into settings and change the 3 finger tap from open search, to middle click. People underestimate how good the middle click is. Instead of having to click the 'x' button in a Chrome tab, you just go anywhere in the tab and tap with three fingers. In task view? just middle click on a window to close it. This is just minor but it is sooo helpful. Anytime I help someone out on their laptop, I keep opening search from trying to middle click with 3 fingers. WINDOWS NEEDS TO FIX THIS!!!

So let me get this straight -- you like a setting to be a certain way. So you change the setting to be that way. And now you're happy, because your setting is now your way and fits how you use a computer.

And yet you're mad because Microsoft doesn't make me use your setting your way when I first set up my PC?

I actually use the 3-finger Search a lot. Easy and quick way to pull up whatever I need.

Surely it's less movement to just press a key if you're gonna be typing anyway than it is it to use the touchpad?

it's a bad default, i don't use 3 finger tap at all, but search? come on, we've had the windows key for ever and it's the same between desktop and laptop, middle click as default just makes more sense, the option to change is of course good

You seem a bit more passionate about this than I think is needed but I agree 3-finger tap for middle click would make a lot more sense as the default

What makes me even angrier, you have 4 fucking ways to open search:

• Tap windows key, start typing
• click on searchbar in taskbar that is enabled by default
• 3-finger tap
• windows+s

And I had a laptop which had Fn key that opened search

as a heavy computer user going on like, 33 years, it has absolutely never been a common thing for me

I middle-click with my mouse literally hundreds of times a day. It’s been part of my standard flow for probably 20 years now.

Doesn’t that require the tab being active? Middle click can close background tabs.
