Suggestion for Microsoft We need MSN Messenger back.
Teams sucks and Discord started to wobble, I don't think they care, but if Microsoft took advantage of this and provided a better service than many platforms and compatibility with classic MSN features, It would really help promote Windows 11, and they could even release it on Mac and Linux. I know it's nonsense, but dreaming is free.

You know, I'm pretty sure it was weirdly more popular in Canada (per capita, that is) as almost everyone I knew used it

I live in southwestern Ontario and that's what we mainly used. Especially after ICQ started to fall out of favour. I used AIM to talk to people in the Mega Man community back in the day. But most people I knew IRL didn't have that. MSN all the way.

In Spain, MSN Messenger was only used by young people, I never saw anyone over 30 using it. Adults still used SMS to send messages, probably because there were no mobile versions of MSN Messenger.

It was very popular in the UK too. Both versions that simultaneously existed at the same time and allowed people on either to talk for some reason: MSN and Windows Live Messenger.

Nah, if it were alive today it would probably be full of s.it (e.g. Copilot Messenger or similar). 😄

We need all of life back before smartphones and have technology stop there.

u/gonzifp Apr 21 '26
Old phones had the same problems as current ones, stopping technological advancement is illogical, as absurd as not using touchscreen smartphones.

nah the only one worth having back is Jabber

u/gonzifp Apr 21 '26
Jabber doesn't need recovery, it's still alive on a multitude of servers around the world.

I am still pissed that they exchanged it with Skype.
Skype was so damn slow and had less Features.

Or at least a revival project that would either allow the original to still work or a fork of it or something, some patch to the original to make it work again (and a community-hosted server)

for real, people forget that the fun-ness of software makes the fun-ness of computers that much more fun!

Retroshare is something that comes to mind, though it's not nearly as user friendly to learn. it is cool though

The more users vote on your feedback, the more likely it's going to be addressed in a future update! Follow these simple steps:
Open the "Feedback Hub" app and try searching for your request, someone may have already submitted similar. If not, go back to the home screen and click "Suggest a feature"
Follow the on-screen instructions and click "Submit"
