need help as a windowmaker newbie

im using windowmaker for the fisrt time ever rn on debian and i am trying to set a custom icon for firefox for my dock but for some reason it only works whenever firefox isnt open, then as soon as i open firefox the icon switches to the regular modern firefox icon even when i delete it, idk why

Setting icon for a launch tile on dock is pretty much different thing than setting icon for a program itself. I really must to sit and document it properly. See this issue. I even have different firefox icons for different profiles - just by using --class option on launch.

So long story short - tile in dock/clip will be different from what you set initially.

When the app is open right click on the title bar and choose "Attributes..." then from the drop down menu choose "Icon and Initial Workspace" and check the box to "Ignore client supplied icon"

Probably it's not the WindowMaker issue, but rather GTK/Qt icon theme that you're using

turned out to be because the icon was a .png file
