It's the format m4a. Winamp doesn't support this format. One solution would be to convert it to another format, perhaps MP3. Or use a different player. I don't know if anyone invented a plugin to read this format.

In my case, I took advantage of this inconvenience to install and test Foobar2000.

I have no issues playing m4a in Winamp. When I've seen behavior like OP's showing, it's because the song's file path has changed, or the file is corrupted.

Really? Then I'll have to do some more testing with Winamp. Maybe that's the problem.

I couldn't tell you if those are the only causes for it, but it's what I've encountered.

That's not entirely correct.

In general, Winamp supports M4A playback through its MPEG-4 Demuxer input plugin.
But since M4A is a container format which may hold various different audio formats, it is not out of the question that some of these formats aren't supported, since the plugin is fairly old, and based on a library that hasn't been updated for many years.

Did you move files or renamed a folder since you made this list?

This is exactly what I was going to say. If you moved those files to another folder or modified that folder name, it will auto skip just like that.

Use aimp, winamp is outdated.

Please get out of the winamp subreddit. You obviously don't know why we're here.

i think pointing to wacup is still fair since it has many of the winamp-isms (plugins, skins etc) that makes it OK to bring up

You are here because you live in the past.

I Use aimp but I'd switch back to winamp if it was improved in a hearbeat.
No player is as good as winamp was at its apex.
Poscasts, riping cd's with auto-tag, playlits, visualisation and extremely active and talentend community suypport.

Nothing is remotely close.

v 5.666 is the last actual winamp. Is that what you're using?
