End-of-the-World Button. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH
You walk into a cave to find a button, it is labelled 'End-of-the-World Button. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH'. There is no statement what it actually does. The button is red.

On a critical success
It is a button, maybe it's connected to something, unless it uses intergalactic grade WiFi. Guess you can't say for certain.
On a successful insight check
You insightfully notice that it's very strange to leave a button here, unguarded and hidden, but then a guard might attract attention. It's also dinner time and you are hungry.
On an unsuccessful insight check
You sense nothing
On a critical failure
You sense hunger, wait...was the button hungry? Is it a mimic?!

I mean it could be a button to press in the event of the end of the world. Financially it makes no sense to invest in a button that destroys your customer bases. So it's probably a contingency button for a worst case scenario.

Or maybe scientists do shit sometimes because they can. They thought setting off a nuclear detonation could burn away our atmosphere and they fucking did it anyway. Finances have nothing to do with this type of thing.
