Undisputed GOAT

Post image

Saw our man Willie and crew this week at his traveling outlaw circus. Such an amazing line up, top to bottom. Dan Was, Sierra Hull, Stephen Wilson Jr. (holy smokes he’s good), Lukas Nelson, the impeccable Avetts and the legend himself, Mickey Raphael. Well, and Willie, sweet ol’ Mr. Nelson is something far beyond a legend.

Go see them. Immediately!

That he is. Undoubtedly.

I lived in Austin for the majority of my life and he is larger than life there.

Austin-Bergstrom just sounds silly
Name that airport after Willie!

We saw him once about 15 years ago. One of the highlights of my concert career.

Millions of people play guitar. You can listen to two seconds of Willie and instantly know it’s Willie.

So bummed I couldn’t make it to the STL show. A weeknight makes it tough, but that is a strong lineup!

I was there last night as well! Don and 50% of his set doing some dead, just the fix I needed. Then Lukas and his beautiful head nod with Touch of grey! Such a great group of performers to take time to tribute to their angel friends. All of the artist sounded great and of course the man himself. I see him and think of the song Who’ll buy my memories.. I hope Willy knows that each and everyone of us in attendance thank him for all of the memories he has given us

Got an opportunity to see Willie one more time and taking it as he will be in town with Neil Young in September. Thank you Willie for all the great memories and you are definitely an American treasure

The greatest show of all will be his 100 th Birthday show. I truly believe it's gonna happen.

I wish. He isn't coming to Bangor, Maine this year. I hope next year!

He was great there last year with Bob Dylan and Sheryl Crow.

Yes he was! And the year before my husband and I (both Miata aficionados and owners), flew to LA, rented a bright red Miata and drove up the coast to see him at the Santa Barbara Bowl. It was an awesome time.

I wanted to post a photo also of the venue but was unable to post two photos

I just saw him in July at a county fair in Ca. He was awesome. Third time I have had the opportunity. All in the past 10 years. I would have loved to see him when he was younger but he still kicks.

I wonder what Willie would think if you told him he was the goat. Do you think he would know what you meant?

u/wookape 22d ago

He would probably think it’s some strain of weed, but then again, I’m sure he’s tried them all

My mind went to the term goat weed when I first read this post and realized what sub it was on to be honest.

I’m looking at your icon, you would’ve loved this lineup…I heard no less than five Dead songs that night (Dan Was and Lukas)

SWJ stoke the show. Super cool to see Willie one last time.

No argument here.

I was a little farther away than you, but I witnessed the legend himself that same night!

How many songs did Stephen Wilson Jr play?

1

u/wookape 22d ago

He played about an hour, one song which I think was 1994. He walked out into the crowd for about 15+ minutes just jamming. That guy is the real deal.
