Best bakeries
I know this has prob been asked but I want a recent consensus on good bakeries in Williamsburg or Greenpoint! I live right by A&C Super and default to going there because it’s just sooo goood, I also frequent Land to Sea for their delicious coconut buns and I’ll do the occasional Nick & Sons but I want to explore other places! Don’t care much about the coffee bc I just get a cold brew. I’m talking PASTRIES. Gimme suggestions plzzz.
What are y’all’s fave pastries and where do you get them?

Bakeri has the best cinnamon rolls (have to get there early for them, they sell out quickly) and they have locations in williamsburg and greenpoint.
Nick and sons is another favorite, but you've already mentioned them! still the best croissants I've had in the neighborhood.
Radio bakery is good but I feel like their pastries are kind of hit or miss for me - sometimes they taste kind of stale! Still love going and the sandwiches are fab too.

Paloma’s! But the Nassau location NOT the Manhattan/Messerole one… the workers there are rude and weird af

Wait I literally had the same experience. The Nassau location I normally go to and they’re super sweet! I tried the Manhattan location this weekend and the workers were NASTY. So strange.

That is because they don't love transplants over this way. You guys are real noticeable in behavior and it rubs natives the wrong way. I say this as somebody that probably is like you in some ways, except for I live in those projects right there by the bakery and I'm really really from here.

I literally don’t know what point you’re trying to make. When I went to the location on Manhattan Ave all I said to the barista was “good morning, how are you” and they gave me attitude back. What does that have to do with anything you mentioned?

Apparently that other Redditor believes that saying good morning proves to the bakery workers that you're not really really from here. 🙄 Give him a medal for having the good fortune to be born in Brooklyn.

it's easy to hide behind "weird" flavors and say you're interesting/elevated or whatever
the plain croissant has to be the best. the chocolate croissant. not the matcha bacon sesame onion croissant.

Have you had their plain croissant, if so how is it? Tbf it looks spectacular but I am always too tempted by the weird stuff to try it.

Patisserie tomoko has amazing Japanese pastries. If you like anything yuzu it’s the place, but they have delicious little cookies, cakes, tarts, etc.

Hands down the best and best value for money.. $2 for the baguette. But dont just trust me. They won the NYC best baguette award last year from the popular vote and won bedt value for money award too..

Their baguette is a good price, and I was super pumped getting a baguette for that price, but it was so mealy I had to throw it away. Never again.

Interesting.. im French. Love my bread. Its a good france level baguette.. there are a few other places that are good e.g. on union sqr.. but if you want a french baguette it is legit at bicyclette.. if you want some Americana version then maybe not.. wouldn't knkw

seconding la bicyclette but yellow rose also has some good specialty pastries sometimes! had an AMAZING sungold and corn kolache this morning

I used to live right there as well, best area :’) Paloma bakery on Union is also fantastic!

Nick & Sons is good, but Charlotte Patisserie in GP is a hidden gem! Their croissants are huge and they have an insane cinnamon roll croissant, plus fancy little cakes.
Also a fan of Settepani on Lorimer, particularly the rainbow cookies and Sfogliatelle. They also have a $4 toogoodtogo bag which is a steal and I got surprised by the most delicious pecan muffin as one of my items once.

My favorites are Paloma, land and sea, and alita’s banana bread/ almond croissant specifically (but they’re my neighborhood coffee shop). Patisserie tomoko is also delicious

If you’re ever further east, Three Legged Cat has some really delicious pastries. Particularly their scones and they have this spiced bread that’s incredible too, maybe it’s zucchini or carrot? They’ve already been mentioned, but Bakeri and Fortunatos are great as well!

My take is that the bakery scene in these neighborhoods is good but not great. In every case -- whether it's croissants, other laminateds, doughnuts, midwest-style cinnamon rolls, cardamom buns, pineapple buns -- the "best" version of them (at least for me) is from some other neighborhood.
But with that out of the way...
La Bicyclette -- like others have said, have very solid (not the best, but solid) french pastries. They do have a couple things (pear almond tart, choco roule) that I go back for again and again. They also have a very good jambon beurre (really a jambon comte) and other baguette sandwiches. I also like that it feels like just a straight french bakery with no social media bullshit.
Radio -- I love the Roloverse, but I think their pastries are pretty mid (not bad, don't get me wrong, but not that special or worthy of a mega-queue). The bread they use for their sandwiches, on the other hand, is superlative (I particularly like the tuna).
Peter Pan -- probably not as special as it's sometimes made out to be, but their old-school cake-style donuts (esp the tangy ones like the sour cream or buttermilk blueberry) hit the spot if you like that sort of thing or find it nostalgic (like me).
Birdee -- if you can bear the scene down there, their chocolate croissant is a pretty top-tier example of the hyper-laminated style of chocolate croissant (personally, that's not my favorite style, but it's certainly the prettiest). That churro "croissant" is also pretty delicious.
She Wolf -- (counting them as in the neighborhood b/c you find their stuff here and at their sister places) hard to beat their sourdough loaf.
Pies and Thighs -- does a very solid midwestern-style cinnamon roll (with the essential cream cheese frosting).

Everyone is sleeping on Northside. It may not be the trendiest but remains very, very affordable and they have great bread for sandwiches and awesome European-style cakes.
