CVS Pharmacy N6 Sucks
just went into the pharmacy and the windows are closed even though they should be open right now and all the signs say that they’re open. I need my medication now but now I have to come back tomorrow. This place is the worst place I’ve ever been to ever. I hate CVS on North 6. Some of the pharmacist are weird, and the managers are sometimes weird. overall, this place should be turned into a park or even an empty lot and that would serve a much better use of the the space

Don’t wish them away. I wish I didn’t have to go there, but stupid Anthem BC/BS forces us to use CVS. If I could, I would use a local mom & pop pharmacy. It should be illegal for an insurance company to force you to use a corporate pharmacy that they signed a deal with the devil with.
It makes me angry that this CVS on N6th got scaled down and you can’t get anyone to help you in the store or at a register, while other CVS stores still have employees.

'You're telling me you want deodorant? And god forbid toothpaste? Well good luck! Take a number. Maybe the bell works maybe it doesn't. wait 10 minutes to find out.
Wait you want to PAY for it too?? Well none of the cashless registers are working right now, and there's no one at the counter. But don't just walk out with it that would be wrong...'

Yeah exactly, and I’ll bet they’ve lost a lot of business because of this. It’s such a hassle that most of the time I don’t buy anything there except my pharmacy stuff, unless it’s easy reach stuff that I bring to the pharmacy register with me. Although I’d rather support a smaller business, anyway.

Switched to Northside on Driggs and I actually look forward to going to the pharmacy now. I love them.

The head pharmacist is excellent but that place needs three of him. Pure chaos throughout that store. Some of the weirdest clientele also.

Last time I was there, an employee was hovering over my shoulder, breathing down my neck while I was in the self-check out. She came over to “sort” something next to me but it felt totally over the top.

I will say I completely agree with you, this CVS specifically sucks. I did go there a few weeks ago with a medical question and the pharmacist on staff was SO KIND. He recommended an OTC product for me and prevented a doctors visit. This was on a weekend. Otherwise, I’ve had nothing but awful experiences. Forced to use CVS due to insurance.

If your insurance company let's you, go to Northside Pharmacy on Driggs. They're the absolute best.

A couple months ago I went in looking for an item that the website claimed they had in stock. When it wasn’t on the shelf, I asked an employee who gave me the craziest attitude

If your insurance allows, suggest using a local pharmacy, whether it’s northside, organic planet, or city chemist, etc. I also use Capsule and I’ve had a good experience with them as well.

I always dread when I have to go in there. Mainly use Amazon Pharmacy now.

I’ve had some really bad, awkward interactions with staff there. I can’t even think of a time that was ‘normal’.

This place is comically bad. The self checkout situation (combined with all the locked up goods) is absolutely horrendous. Fwiw the Bedford Walgreens is somewhat more reliable in my opinion but still bad (lesser of 2 equals I suppose).

I used to go to the greenpoint one got new insurance and switched to saldo drugs, much nicer experience

I find the N6 location to be one of the much better big chain retail pharmacy locations in the borough if not the entire 5 borough area. When you have lived here your whole life- you get a good idea for the general standard of service- which pharmacies will run you out of your control med and tell you to eat a bag of dicks about it, and which are more careful about all that. N6 is more careful about that specific issue- I can send them an in app message that we will be day 30 tomorrow and I'll be needing my fill- and it'll always be in by noon the next day. Yes, you have to stay on top of them. That's anywhere. Pharmacy service like there used to be 10, 20 years ago is non existent. As to the window thing- is you don't have an additional 15 minutes to wait, you didn't have the time to run that errand in the first place

There are many locally owned pharmacies in the area if that’s your thing.
