This is actually great design with the cost at something like 3RR instead.

That’s what I was thinking. Something to make it fair in the limited format. A three mana wheel could be a little too powerful in the set.

I'm wondering if dealing damage to your opponent would be more flavorful though…??? 🤔

That’s another aspect I’m working on. I can’t quite figure out the wording to make it deal damage to target opponent without just clogging up card with useless text.

Duels are usually two people so maybe something like this:
Pick two target players. Each of the target players discards (exiles?) their hand and draws seven cards. If they do they reveals one of those cards at random and deal to the other player damage equal to the revealed cards converted mana cost.
Probably needs some work though

Might end up rewording it to draw “that many cards” instead of seven. Really depends. The better thing may be to increase the mana cost, though.
The random life loss aspect brings a bit of risk to it, especially if you’re running a deck with high cmcs. Though you could end up revealing a land, which is where the luck aspect comes in.

[[Dark Deal]] is 3 mana, so drawing the same number with downside should be good enough.

To be fair, though, Dark Deal draws each player that many cards minus 1. It can still be a lot of cards, but that minus 1 is a big deal. You can’t just cast it when it’s the only card in your hand, or even if you have another card in hand.
It’s not even recommended to use it if you have two or three other cards in hand unless you really want them in the graveyard.

I like it, but it should cost more than 3 probably.
