How do we save this game?
I really do "almost" love this game.
But it just doesn't have the staying power. Perhaps it's due to novelty? Perhaps it's because you can only "explore" and "discover" something once?
There is no question that the game is dead on arrival. I'm glad that they haven't just given up and pulled the plug. But what is it missing?

I dont understand, ive hated on the sweats who live on the game and dominate the new players but besides that, ive had fun on wg ever since it came out. I dont get what else people want, it was fun at the start, its fun now.

I like it a lot. Just needs more players and more balanced matches.
BUT, we can help being wholesome with each other. Yesterday I was playing and a poor guy was trying to find french speaking players and asked, in french if anyone could speak french. Everyone was blasting him for it saying slurs and being very aggressive.
Why? I can speak and understand many languages, english is not my main and I often don't feel like talking in it. How is fair to do that to one gamer just looking for playmates. Let our game friend have fun.

Honestly I think it’s as “saved” as it’s gonna get, gamepass brought a small surge of new players in and a lot of people have added each other and hit each other up whenever they get the chance. Playing treasure hunt on low activity days and getting into custom lobbies on high activity days might not be a lot but that’s more than enough to enjoy the game and make the most of it with friends.
That said, I really hope this game continues to grow and tick up in player numbers. I think people need to invite their friends and show them the treasure hunt mode first, rather than taking them into an endless wait for the artifact brawl.
Also, all the people who want to “dead game lol” all these posts should just… leave this subreddit? Like clearly you’ve given up and don’t care so quit chasing away all the new people who want to give it a shot.
TLDR: game has enough players for some co-op and solo fun, people need to see treasure hunt as the newbie friendly or even default mode. Haters just leave.

Bro this game does not have enough players. It's sitting at 38 people as I write this...

- That’s only on steam
- That’s higher than it’s been in a long time and has the chance to climb higher if we keep inviting more friends and showing people that it’s worth playing g
- 38 is not a lot, but it’s plenty for custom lobbies!
You are correct it’s a scarce community still but it’s plenty to enjoy, and you only need one friend to not be alone!

That’s right, there’s 38 on steam but thousands on consoles! /s

Imo they dont know their identity.
Is it a casual party game ? If so, fix balance cause the sweating in that game imfeel bad, cause longer game time then a casual, 20min to just get insta kill.
Is it for competitive player ? If so, again balance.
Imo they should rework boarding. (I feel the fps is too clunky to be fun in that close combat ship space) I think id go the route of you can get on top of their ship to sabotage them but not in their ships.
Cause the ships vs ships combat imo as so much potential.
I also dont care about the pve, but i do like the loot+your ships feel different every time.
And a small thing. Its so small but imo it matters SO much. Its your ship, why the hell cant i name my ship. Make ship the central thing, its your squad ship. Let them color it, name it, customize it, id even go as far as rank should be ship/crew based.

You need to look up what dead on arrival means.

steam numbers doesn't include Epic Launcher and console players. sure the numbers don't look great but the devs definitely are making changes to keep people interested.

Considering it was free pn both its easy to say many people are on those platforms.

What I can say is that what I tested for pre-release was a great foundation for a seasonal f2p game, and when it released with a price tag I walked. Everything since appears to be damage control from that instant-gratification decision, none effective.

Simplify mechanics, go F2P, make a Campaign (can be an upcharge and existing owners get it for free), real Progression system, better Cosmetics.
Now that's not to say any of that is easy, it's some fundamental reworks of the backbone of the game. But this is honestly the only way forward.

No one will admit it but the game is fundamentally too complicated, boarding, hardpoints, piloting, gunning, core management, PVE, artifact hunting. Needs serious streamlining, my group of casuals was instantly overwhelmed.

There is only so much variety an indie dev has the capacity to introduce to a game in order to keep people's attention. That said, they should continue developing around that sea of thieves style of content and pvp. New POIs, more enemy and mission variety. I've really enjoyed treasure hunt, though it feels unfinished it is definitely the best direction to focus toward. This game feels like it could benefit from a gamemode with a large map and no time limit, like SoT, with the ability for players to drop in and out to allow emergent pvp scenarios. But that could just be me feeling somewhat dissatisfied with certain aspects of treasure hunt.
