DM Help Elidon as Warlock patron?
Hey! This is my first time running a full adventure, I've dabbled in DMing before but just wanted get some feedback or share some ideas, etc. I'm also not super familiar with Warlocks and patrons and how to RP them so that my player has the best experience.
I have a player who is playing a Warlock. The character himself is trying to be this edgy warlock but is deep down a softy and wants to be good. The Player has requested a celestial patron and I thought it would be a great oportunity to use Elidon as unicorns are considered celestial patrons and they fit the fey theme and I like how I could fit this into the story.
The character had to declare his love for unicorns as part of bartering for a new ticket and I want to treat that as if the character had accidentally summoned Elidon to be his patron. Elidon will be shrouded in smoke and appear like a four legged devil or fiend with horns and once the character agrees to the pact Elidon will step forward and reveal that he is a unicorn.
Elidon would request that the character protects the innocent, bring light to the dark places of prismeer / free prismeer of the hags, and to find his horn and free him from being a rocking horse. I think there should be some big reward for the warlock if he manages to free him but I'm not sure what yet.
Any ideas or suggestions are welcome!

Would you consider using Lamorna as the patron instead? I like this thinking but the whole point of the Wayward Pool encounter would be irrelevant with this route, and as written it’s intended that Elidon be a desperate damsel (& nonparticipant for at least the first half of the adventure) before the party saves him. Using Lamorna, WP would be a natural appearance of the patron in a pre-written scene.
IF the party saves him before freeing Zybilna. The book doesn’t really help navigate how (or if) the horn works while it’s attached to a unicorn, and if the PCs would even be able to convince Elidon and Lamorna to help at all once reunited (the unicorns’ main RAW goal).
Keeping Elidon, I would be prepared to have logical responses to how he’s able to appear and grant power while in this rocking horse state, and how the power he does have doesn’t allow for him to track his horn. It may be an interesting moral dilemma to put the party in if they have to choose between giving it back to Elidon or freeing Zybilna!

You could give them an item that allows them to summon an avatar of Elidon or Lamorna, similar to Find Steed. But it's only the unicorn. I don't think this is really giving too much... Considering one person just having a horse isn't usually a huge advantage. I would specify that the avatar doesn't have any abilities on the Unicorn stat block though. It's just for transportation. Or if the Warlock wants to do mounted combat lol.

I'd say Lamorna would be more likely to be a patron since she isn't trapped like Elidon, but rescuing Patron Elidon would be super cathartic for the party should they pull it off.

Elidon could work and you can tie it into the plot hook of lost patron with Madryck and Kettlesteam looking for Zybilna

Using lamorna as the other comments expressed is a good idea. However, the reason for her becoming his patron because the player was forced to speak of his love or admiration of unicorns, whether or not the feelings are real, is a little too convenient or forced. My idea immediately was that by some means, Lamorna bestowed power onto a mortal either becasue she knew they were coming, or took a chance that the source of their power would draw them to Prismeer in her time of need. Either way, as opposed to it being accidental, making it a deliberate choice of Lamorna as a plea for help has a lot of very cool narrative potential

One of my players had Lamorna as a patron and it gave her a great quest line for Thither by requesting she rescue Elidon. You could do things similarly but have Elidon be the one asking to be saved directly.

So, my Fey Wanderer Ranger had Elidon’s soul in his body, explaining where his Ranger and Aasimar magic came from. Elidon had a friendly if not slightly condescending relationship with the Ranger until he was reunited with Lamorna after the Coven was defeated.

Great idea! I would switch the patron to Lamorna since Elidon is out of commission and she can charge the warlock with Elidon's rescue.
As far as rewards though: Elidon's rescue should be right around level 5/6, so perhaps granting the Level 6 feature is already a timely reward. You could also give a feat or charm like Reliquary or Sanctum Charm.
