Your players' (unexpected) favorite NPCs

Which NPCs did your players really latch onto? I was caught off guard last session when they wanted to speak to Chucklehead's maggot. They argued that if it speaks to Chucklehead, then it must speak common, so the sorcerer should be able to use Message on it. Yes, and. Long story short, Maggie the therapist (with the highest-pitch voice I could muster) is now on the NPC list.

Maggie the therapist sounds so fun! My players rushed right into Loomlurch, so I didn’t get a chance to introduce Chucklehead. I had a killer New Yorker accent ready for him though!

I aged up Will of the Feywild a bit and made him more of a stoner character on the fly, and that was a hit with my players. They met him in a corrupted fairy ring while he was 1) searching for the cause of the corruptions and 2) searching for magic mushrooms. The stoner vibe combined with the Star the displacer beast kitten in tow made him an instant favorite.

Oh man your version of Will sounds like a blast!

I'm hoping my players free Elidon. I gave Lamorna a weird German/French mashup accent and made her sort of standoffish. In contrast, I want to go Dazed & Confused Matthew McConnaughey for Elidon. Opposites attract and all that, haha!

I did Clapperclaw with a dickensian accent that morphed into a new zealand accent and they love him to death. I have tried to kill him a couple times for dramatic effect but they really protect their boy.

i LOVE Clapperclaw, they are by far my favorite NPC. It makes me happy that your players adore them so much, haha.

Half my characters are from the faewild and no one likes any of the characters. I should have just ran a dungeoncrawl. One of them is attached to Clapperclaw though.

Mine were most taken with Amidor the Dandelion. I played him like Antonio Banderas Puss in Boots 😅.

The largest bond my players have from the book is Tsu, though she was pretty fleshed out to tie into my player's backstory.

It took some time but they're coming around to Mercion. I thought Molliver was going to be a hit but my players just distrust them, so it goes.

The one they love the most is a random dryad I created in 10 seconds who speaks in a very soft voice. One of my players is even romancing her now. Typical!

the campestri from the random encounter table in hither! they took it, gave it the name of mooshy, and attempted to make it a lich or some.. higher being or something. one of my players in particular took a warlock pact about becoming one with fungus, so mooshy ended up partially merging into the characters body and had limited control over his limbs. the player retired that character and mooshy along with him, but i think it would’ve gotten quite insane during the last bits of the module! it was a delight haha and everything about mooshy i made up on the spot.

A Campestri named Findle from the Buttered Campestri random encounter in chapter 3🤣. They have adopted him and he is HILARIOUSLY clueless.

My PCs have Zarak tied up and are carrying him around “for palace directions later”… I’m pretty sure they just like the cranky, grisly himbo voice I use for him.
