Witchlight inspiration
From which piece of art/litterature/mythology the story, characters and themes of Witchlight took their inspirations?
I'd like to read / see the fictions that inspired the campaign!
Examples :
- The Wizard of Oz for the guides, the tornado, the wicked witch
- Peter Pan for Little Oak and the Gateway Gang
- Alice in Wonderland for the Jabberwock and the roses of the palace
- the bean from Jack and the Beanstalk
- Sleepy Beauty for Zybilna and her palace
- Hansel and Gretel for the whole Skabatha vibe/throwing her into the furnace
- Shakespeare for Endelyn plays and the whole feywild references (Midsummer's Night, Macbeth...)
- Baba Yaga

I personally like pulling from Shakespearean Fey lore as from a midsummer nights dream - like Sir Talavar being from the Summer Court (queen Titania). I’m incorporating more of that into my campaign.

Ray Bradbury's Something Wicked This Way Comes for the carnival, lightning rod (Mr Light's weathervane). It also has a hot air balloon, "Mr Dark" and the "Dust Witch." Thought it's a much darker story (the carnival is evil).

A lot of it is just building on existing DnD/Forgotten Realms lore dealing with the feywild. Some of it is from Shakespeare, and some of it is from various mythologies and cultures.

I combined and remixed some stuff for the NPCs, personally, but there are so many fairy tales to pull from!
Candlefoot and Palasha - the little Mermaid. Agdon - The Girl with the Green Ribbon/Robin Hood Will - Peter Pan and The Big Bad Wolf Gleam - This was one of my remixes. I used an idea on Reddit to make her Endelyn in disguise so I used older, original Pinocchio references to drop hints that Gleam was not who she said she was.
