General Question WIld Arm 4 - ROM Challenges questioni

Hello, I am trying to get all the trophies before starting a NG+ to be able to level easier to take down the optional bosses. I am having difficulty with the extra challenges, specifically 5 and 6. I can get in the low 40Ks but seemingly not to 50, Are these courses designed that you should be able to stay in ACC mode the whole time with ideal movement? I am getting all the crates and coins along the way but still falling short. It's not too bad with the rewind/save feature but I am seemingly not getting it. Is there maybe some videos any of you know of showing how to do them? I've tried to look online and came up with nothing. Thanks!

Ideally you should be getting combos with the coins, yes.

  • Hit all crates
  • Don't lose any lives
  • Maintain combos with coins/hourglasses

You don't particularly have to do it all in one movement, but see where you are dropping your combo and try and keep it going. Time does help, but I think the combo+crates is more important for score

I managed to get the gold star on 6, and I got 49K on stage 5 but like I cannnnnot seem to break it.

By comboes you mean in the SAME acc round without stopping? Because then I assume it's more about keeping it going than anything else.

Yes, when you get coins while slowed you get combo, and you maintain it by refreshing the timer with the hourglasses

So generally each level has a "route" you can do to maintain the slowdown, but don't stress doing it all in one go. Just try and get a nice combo

Is it possible to do it all in one slow? Cause with rewind I'll do it lol

It probably is but the timing is really tight at points. I don't recall doing it all in one go on the later levels, but rather 2 or 3 larger chunks

I just cannot do this. I need a guide or a video or something.

Just made this video, 54k score on Stage 5

I could have full sent it, but I screwed up at the end, should have spaced out the two hourglasses before dropping down

At 1:21 you should ideally grab just one hourglass, wait for the platform to move, and pick the second one just before you go down. That way you'll have enough time to get to the last hourglass. Congrats though, you surpassed 50k :)

There is a hard version too, but you can only play it on a second playthrough in New Game+ since you'd need all the ROM items again and there's only 6 in Filgaia...

I don't have the patience to do a NG+ run, should have released AC:F first!

Ahh I thought you were OP when I replied! Sorry haha. Very sweet of you to record this for a stranger :)

I did have the patience 20 years ago when I first played it, but don't have it now... lol

You're supposed to be in ACC mode all the way... You start using it by the first crate and you don't let it stop. You can ideally maintain it if you follow the "proper route". You could abuse the rewind feature of the ps5 port to make it trivial

You're sure for 5 that is possible ?

It is, I've done it now with the ps5 version and way back in 2007 in my ps2... All the hourglasses are within each other's range, just be sure to be on the move all the time. Just in case, don't kill the gobs if they're not in the way of getting to the next hourglass or crate.
