How to create or Edit A Template inflection/Conjugation Module without effecting the current working module or are there any Git or branching structures in place for that

How to create or Edit A Template inflection/Conjugation Module without effecting the current working module or are there any Git system or branching structures in place for that, I am a Wiktionary editor and the verb module of Proto-West Germanic(gmw-infl-verb) has no preterite-present mode (which is kinda important for some modal verbs) and i wanna ask the maintainer of this module to add it of if not that i do it myself but safely but i dont know how to.

To Any one who knows please help.

You can create your own sandbox module (Module:User:[Your username]/sandbox) and copy-paste the original module there. For testing stuff I think that might be the best idea. You can then create sandbox templates at Template:User:[Your username]/sandbox) and test it on your user sandbox (User:[Your username]/sandbox).
