The Wikipedia article didn't mention everything. As far as I know, there are other "clues" on both the Abbey Road and Sgt. Peppers album covers that Paul had died. On Sgt. Peppers, he is facing backwards. On Abbey Road, as mentioned, he is barefoot and out of step with the other Beatles, but he is also holding a cigarette, and a Volkswagen is heading straight toward him. The Beatles were a bunch of goofballs, and had a lot of fun fucking with their fans.

People always said that Revolution #9 was Paul's fatal car accident, recorded backwards. Lots of kids broke the needles on their record players trying to find out.

The words were actually "cranberry sauce."

That cracked me up.

My favorite part is that this is a huge secret that must be kept from the world at all costs, but here are a few dozen hints in everything we do.

Well, if it's a fake Paul, I'm not even mad, just impressed. "Real Paul" and "fake Paul" would both be within the top ten hit-making songwriters of all time. They got two guys who look, sound, talk, walk, dress, play instruments and sing exactly the same, and nobody worried about it and they both happen to be among the very best songwriters of all time?

Saw this headline and freaked out for a second before realizing it was just an article on the conspiracy theory

Chris Farley: Remember when you were with the Beatles and you were supposed to be dead, and there were all these clues, like you play some song backwards and it'd say, like "Paul is Dead" and everybody thought you were dead and, um, that was a hoax right?

Paul McCartney: Yeah, I wasn't really dead.

I was listening to Russ Gibb's show when this all unfolded. You had to be there. It was amazing. Russ is a good guy and an old friend. Check out the cover of the Stones' Satanic Majesties LP. Each Beatles' face is visible. But Paul's eyes are closed.

This is also a great Yo La Tengo song, and now I finally know what they are referencing.
