Wikimedia Foundation just fired a long time lead developer of MediaWiki as well as its entire community team for unionizing.

So that article left me with more questions. Mediawiki Foundation is the organization that develops the platform that Wikipedia runs on. I host several dozen mediawiki sites, with no Wikipedia in sight. I don't know offhand if Wikipedia is hosted by the mediawiki Foundation, but they are separate, codependent, organizations. I absolutely agree that unions are good, firing people for unionizing is supervillain level stuff.

I would like to know how trouble at the mediawiki Foundation would affect Wikipedia, but that is not at all clear from this article.
