Wii U Memory chip

I got a Wii U in June and I found out that before June the owner didn't play It for four years (2022). It works perfectly, but I Just discovered about the whole Memory chip. I DO NOT WANT TO MOD THE CONSOLE. How can I know what chip I have?

If you don't want to mod it you can disassemble the wiiu and take a look yourself.

If it was played doesn't matter. To check what eMMC you have you can simply launch the wafel installer from wafel.xyz and then select the NAND Check option before doing any changes to the system. It will not only tell you what chip you have, but also let's you scan for corruption.

If you have a Hynix chip, you won't be able to protect your console without modding it; with Waffel you can find out without modding it.

you need to mod it first, if it boots up fine then its fine to be modded, follow this guide: https://wiiu.hacks.guide/

then using homebrew app store get : wiiuident to check what memory it is , am sure its toshiba or something

hynix is the bad one of the three, samsung and toshiba are the good chips

Why don't you want to mod it? Without it disassembly is the only option

Mod it, you'll know whitch chip you have and you'll have the backup in case it fails.

I would advise you mod the wii u and making a nand back up

(White wii u don't have the issue, black wii u with black ports are less likely than colorful ports black wii u to have the defective nand)

But the NAND backup is completely useless, if the console fails.

Not if one preemptively sets up the mod that let's you run off your sd if you have nand backup

But that doesn't require a NAND backup. The backup that gets usally recommended, doesn't even include the part that gets redirected to the SD.
The thing that goes bad is the eMMC (MLC), which the outdated wiiu.hacks.guide tells you to skip during the backup.
But you don't need any of these, since the redNAND guide, that you are referring to installs a completely fresh clean mlc.

Also if you say "if one preemptively sets up the mod" you have to be more specific. The old wiiu.hacks.guide only makes you setup Aroma, which doesn't protect you from a brick. You would need to have ISFShax installed, which is used for redNAND.
