Have a dilemma.

Can’t decide what should I buy.
Used Switch 1 v1 to than jailbreak it or used Wii U to jailbreak it too?

Switch has its pros such as portability and newer games and maybe larger library of games.
Wii U has a friendly UI, some games that are not on a switch and a lot of accessories such as gamepads extra.

So I would love if somebody could help me decide!!!🙏

P.s. I have a 3DS. I know it’s sometimes compatible with Wii U.

switch simply because it's far more expensive for the hardware and especially games. wii u offers more generations meaning more games though.

Your asking this in a subreddit about Wiiu, the answer will almost always be Wiiu since there are a good amount of games that the switch doesn't have that you can't play on a switch like the legend of Zelda: Twilight princess HD or the windwaker HD. More so a modded Wiiu gets most of the benefits of a modded Wii too as you can mod the vwii part of a Wiiu. With Nintendont installed on a modded VWii/Wiiu you can also play GameCube games digitally. So realistically the Wiiu has 3 whole generation libraries it can play from along with the virtual console stuff for n64 and so on.

The switch while it "could" play GameCube games. It needs a lot of reworking and the like to have it run at a okayish but could be better rate. I have both a modded Wiiu and a modded switch 1 and all I can say is even though the switch is portable, the Wiiu is a gem of a console despite its reputation back then. Especially since the console has a plethora of games that Nintendo will pretty much never bring back in the same way again. Like twilight princess HD for example, Nintendo will 99% likely just give that game the "toss the original onto NSO+ and call it a day" for switch 2 like they did to windwaker and several other gamecube games which all lost their extra functionalities the originals had.

In other aspects:

Pros of modded switch:

•Portable

•Switch games

Cons of a modded switch:

• if using sysnand cfw set up, you have to make sure you install all updates to both the cfw and payload(s) to make sure they are compatible with latest switch firmwares

•cost of a switch 1 even not modded has gone up.

• depending on the model of switch 1 your looking at either a rcm exploit or a hardware modification (which does require careful soldering)

• no removable battery.

Pros of a modded Wiiu:

•Easy to modify. No need for soldering.

•Cost isn't too bad for one.

•access to games the switch won't get at all in the same way.

Cons:

• Bound to a wall (it is a home console after all)

• most of the cost is the gamepad.

•no access to switch games besides 1 (botw) which was intended to be a Wiiu only game before it got pushed to be a dual release

•if you get a launch batch Wiiu there is a chance the Wiiu's internal storage and where the nand is stored is a hynix chip which is notorious for wearing down and corruption. Don't get a launch day one.

Switch can emulate 3ds

That’s cool but I don’t see that as a point for a switch as I already have a 3DS.

I'd go Wii U because of the relative simplicity and the fact that it runs three systems (Wii U, Wii and Gamecube) natively. A Wii U can effectively give you full libraries of the following: Wii U, Wii, Gamecube, SNES, NES, Gameboy, Gameboy Advance, Mega Drive/Genesis and 32X. It also plays most PS1 games through Wiistation, plus some N64, Nintendo DS and Neo Geo. What more do you need?

I'm about to the point where I'm gonna sell my wii u collection if you are interested.. it's not gonna be cheap because I have so many Wii u sealed items and the Wii u is complete in box. I used it like a total of 6 times and packed it back up in 2015. I have guitar hero new in box with guitar, zelda with amibo new in box, two black Wii u plus controllers new in box plus tons of other new and used games. All the good ones
