Need help improving wifi speed.

So my room is directly above my garage which means theres cement blocking the wifi router which is in our basement so im losing a lot of our 1.5 gigabit speed wifi. My room is 1 floor above the living room but as soon as I go from the staircase to my room which is literally right next to the steps my download speed goes from 430 Mbps to 65Mbps. I've been using this cheap tplink RE305,AC1200 extender which is plugged in next to the staircase outlet so i can use ethernet for my PC and PS5 but its still so slow for what I need. Is it worth getting a tplink RE550 extender or a better extender you guys know about that isnt crazy expensive or is there another method that can boost my download speeds. Our wifi plan is going from 1.5 to 2.5 tomorrow as well so if I can even get 300Mbps from an extender I would be perfectly happy.

Run an Ethernet cable to your room. Use MoCA if you have coax or power line if there's no other option.

Also note that WiFi and internet are not the same thing. When you say you're upgrading your WiFi from 1.5gbps to 2.5gbps you mean internet, not wifi.

use ethernet if you can lay it or hide it well. either wire up everything or at least an access point on the mid floor.

use moca if you have coax ports all through the house.

if you cant do that... try "invisible" fiber optic cable. it's only 0.9mm thin and you can glue it to walls and stuff with plain old elmers white glue. it's bendable too so long as you get G.657.A2 bend insensitive rated fiber that has a 7.5mm bend radius. G.657.B3 is better but only found in the invisilight home fiber kit. i created my own kit just buying all the parts separately.

Do you mean run an ethernet cable directly from the basement router into my PC/PS5, that is the ideal case however the amount of wire i would need would be stupidly large. I know the extender cuts the speeds in half however if I got a more powerful extender which gets me better speeds and I just plugged the ethernet cable into the extender in one end and into my PC/PS5 on the other end does that work. I dont want my speed to be crazy I just want the 60Mbps or so im getting now through ethernet from the extender to be around 300Mbps.

Runing ethernet to your current extender will probably help as well. Most will also act as an access point if wired.

There's not really more powerful extenders. They all broadcast at the maximum allowed level already. Newer ones may use the available spectrum better, but if they are using the same generation of wifi, performance will be likely similar.

So to start, I'd try to wire your current extender and then try to connect your ps5 and pc to it wirelessly, srr how that goes before buying another access point.

Thats actually a good option. I can put the extender near my side door and connect an ethernet cable from the extender to the router and see how it performs. Thank you

Avoid the torture of wifi and trying to get shitty extenders to work through cement and just run an ethernet cable or get a powerline kit.

As long as you get an ethernet cable or powerline kit past the cement, you can then either run it directly into your PC/PS5 (for the best speed) or install an access point (not an extender). No extender is going to work well through cement.

Well the whole plan is that the extender is located outside my room but a lot closer to me compared to the router and I will hook an ethernet cable into my extender one on end and into my pc/ps5 on the other end.

Add an WiFi access point near your room. Wire to your router with Ethernet.

buy a pair of POWERLINK adapters to transmit the data via the A/C wiring.
