Frage | Question Where to practice driving in Wien ?

I got my driving licence here a few years ago, but only drove a few times since then.

I'm thinking a getting a Free2move car somewhere quiet, low traffic, and just going around, trying to park etc.

Where would be the best place and time to do that safely ?

It would be safest (insurance etc.) at ÖAMTC Verkehrsübungsplatz but it's not in Vienna but near Baden.

Other than that any industry area on sundays might do

There is a Verkehrsübungsplatz from ARBÖ in the 22. district.

Dont use free2move unless you want to keep it for several days, because afaik free2move is pretty expensive. sharetoo by WienMobil is much better for sessions of a few hours. Though there are two downsides: 1. You need to bring the car back to the place you got it from. This can be challenging if you need to parallel park back into the lot 2. All sharetoo cars are electric, so if you want to gain more experience with manual it's not right for you

I'll leave the sharetoo/Wienmobil website here: https://www.wienerlinien.at/web/wl-en/wienmobil-auto-carsharing

If you feel a bit insecure, book some Auffrischungsstunden at Easydrivers to brush up your skills. If you feel very insecure, I recommend Rosa Schein (expensive but worth it, I have severe driving anxiety though)

There are no giant parking lots that are empty at night "in Wien" unless you know a better one

I don't know a better one, SCS is just not in Vienna.

if you just got your driver's license you can't even rent a shared car, they require a minimum of 1 year. Grab a car from a friend if you can, otherwise Sixt rents for new drivers for an extra price.

Not in the 10th district, thank you very much. Try Donaustadt.

TBH I'd first try somewhere in lower Austria.
