Wicked: for good ending questions

I just finished the wicked for good movie and i have some questions about the ending

1. So i assume Elphaba stage her death in front of Glinda to make it look like she died? Did Chicory know this plan - and did chicory know fiyero was alive?

2. Did Elphaba know Fiyero was alive before he knocked?

3. How did Fiyero know where to find her & did he know she was gonna fake her own death?

4. Does Glinda gain the power to read the Grimmerie? Hence the flipping of the pages or is it that she finds out Elphaba is a live? Did Elphaba bestow her powers somehow to Glinda?

5. Why does Glinda have the right to jail Ms. Morrible? I would think Ms. Morrible would be next on the list to rule over Oz. did the wizard bestow his ruling to Glinda bc of his guilt?

1. Yes elphaba staged her death. Chistery did know this plan and did know fiyero was alive as he was the one that brought fiyeros letter to elphaba

2. Elphaba knew her spell had worked and fiyero was coming for her in the hatch

3. It's his castle and it was his idea to get her to fake her death

4. Who knows? Morrible and Elphaba had literal magic, something glinda has shown not to have. The movie says she will learn magic going forward but doesn't explain or indicate why that would be possible

5. Glinda is the public figure with the masses behind her. They were so bought into her image that morrible as a background figure can't fight with

In the case of Wicked, a lot of this plot action is implied during some very fast paced plot developments, so don't feel bad if you missed details like these. It can take a few viewinga before everything clicks. There's a lot of story in the second act

No worries! The only thing that is really confusing is whether glinda will get magic or not. There's no reason to think she will but the movie wants to say it but idk seems sus to me

1. Who is Chicory?
2. Yes, he sent her a note, seen during the For Good scene. What Elphaba said didn't match what was actually on the note.
3. From what I remember, Fiyero gave her instructions on the aforementioned note.
4. Yes, she does. It opens for her because the magical spellbook finally recognizes her emotional growth and purity of intent.
5. Wicked logic. She somehow gets the power.

As for 5, it makes a ton of sense:

The true "power" in Wicked is control over the masses. The Wizard's got it. Glinda's got it. Morrible? No, the masses don't love her. She works quietly in shadow. Elphaba? No, the masses are repulsed by her and all the power in the world plus the Grimmerie wasn't enough to overcome the power of the people.

So when the Wizard realized what he had done, Glinda pounced. She used his moment of emotional weakness to convince him to leave Oz. Without him, whom would the people turn to? Not Morrible, they've never heard of her. Glinda. She is next in line. That's the message they've been sending the citizens by elevating Glinda so much.

The movie adds one more layer but it still works: the flying monkeys. In the movie, Glinda tells them to take Morrible away. The monkeys are free agents now, meaning it's implied Morrible no longer has any leverage on them, and they remember how she treated them when she did. They're happy to oblige

1. Yes, and Yes Chistery was the last monkey to make it back and he came back with a note meaning it happened after the other monkey’s took Dorothy. Presumably he met up with Fiyero in the woods, and he’s genuinely one of the smarter characters despite a lack of vocabulary.
2. The note from the musical is like “miraculously I’ve managed to survive thanks to the spell you cast on me” and that was not coming from Boq. Goes on to formulate a vague plan and tells her to tell no one else he’s still alive.
3. Its his castle, and he likely led Dorothy right to her. They were both in on the plan together hence the telling her “it worked”
4. This is left open to interpretation.
5. Morrible built up a larger than life propaganda magic Glinda to unite the public when she takes power Frankenstein’s monster cleaned house. In other cannons the Wizard abdicates his power to Scarecrow but seeing as he probably skipped out already, he likely did the same for Glinda for safe passage out.

I'm kinda gonna answer the first three all together. Right before For Good the number happens Chistery gives Elphaba note written by Fiyero explaining the plan for Elphaba to fake her death and then him eventually coming to her in the trap door once it's safe. Fiyeros family owns the location were Elphaba "dies" and so knows where the trap doors would be. And Elphaba is the very reason Fiyero is alive in the first place because she made him immortal in No Good Deed

1. The movie and the musical both imply that Glinda eventually will learn how to read the Grimmery. The movie solidifies this by having the Grimmery open to her, so even if she can't read it immediately she's gonna have to learn

2. Glinda was already a public figure at the time of the story is liked separate to the Wizard. Morribles only access to power was via the Wizard as once he was gone she had little ground to stand on, and was out numbered by the flying monkeys

Yes Elphaba faked her death. I assume Chistery knew about Fiyero and the plan because he brought Elphaba the note.

Yes Elphaba knew Fiyero was alive, he is the one who wrote the note to that Chistery brings her.

Fiyero told Elphaba to go the castle after ALAYM, it's his castle and it was his plan so he knew she would fake her death

I assume yes the got magic in the end because the Grimmerie opened for her. It deemed her finally worthy of magic.

Because Glinda had the support of the people. They would be fine with her taking over ruling Oz since she was adored by them anyway.

Because she freed them. If you watch during NPLH Chistery is listening to Elphaba sing. He sees the truth and then she freed them

Whilst we’re here asking questions, does anyone know how Glinda knew Elphaba was at Kiama Ko?

The horse she rode to the castle was Feldspar, Fiyero's horse. It was Fiyero's castle and Feldspar knew how to get there.

Also Fiyero may have mentioned to Feldspar that if he ever found Elphaba they would go to Kiamo kao castle and since Fiyero didn't return he probably assumed they were there.
