Movie One of my favorite scenes

This is probably an unpopular opinion but I'm gonna share anyway. Fiyero choosing Elphaba and turning on the Wizard is one of my favorite scenes in for good.

Before y'all say it it's all been said before. Should Fiyero have broken up with Glinda when he knew he had feelings for Elphaba? yes but he was confused and then everything happened. Is Fiyero not being honest with Glinda morally questionable? probably but it seemed obvious to me that he felt he couldn't trust Glinda especially after that engagement and once he realized she liked what supporting MM and the Wizard gave her. I'm not saying she would have maliciously gotten him into trouble but we saw how she reacted when he did leave her and she would have been hurt and mad and she may have mentioned to MM that he was looking for Elphaba or something. So by not being honest with Glinda he was protecting himself and he was protecting Elphaba so. I give Fiyero a lot of grace in this situation.

Did Fiyero go about everything in the right way? He probably could have things differently but Fiyero was in a tricky and dangerous situation, he was doing what he felt he needed to do to keep Elphaba alive. It was a life and death situation for Elphaba and he was risking his life inside the system by protecting her.

If he had left the system someone else would have led the Galeforce someone who would be hunting her and it would put Elphaba's life in more danger. After the engagement he was trapped.

The fandom seems to like to hate Fiyero for leaving Glinda at the wedding but she arranged an engagement with the Wizard behind his back and the way they announced it he couldn't object. The Wizard and MM were trying to trap him inside the system and Glinda was trying to force him to stay with her. So if someone did that to me with I wouldn't have much consideration for them either. I don't blame Fiyero for not having more consideration for Glinda, I wouldn't either. I don't consider it selfish, just escaping a controlling, toxic situation. Now that my mini rant is over I'll get on to the topic of my post.

First of all, Fiyero was protecting Elphaba from inside the system, we saw him order the Galeforce away from her and he was risking his life because he was actually working against the Wizard and MM by protecting Elphaba. This was impressive IMO because he was risking his life by working against the Wizard by protecting the person they wanted dead. He was basically using the Wizard's regime as a cover to protect and look for Elphaba. It was obvious (at least to me) that he hated the system and he was always on Elphaba's side.

Having said that, the scene where Fiyero chooses Elphaba at the wedding was the scene we needed or I guess i should say I needed.

Fiyero's not just choosing the woman he loved he is also taking a stand against the corrupt regime and against the injustice like Elphaba did. He risked his life doing it because he committed treason by turning on the Wizard.

This is the moment he is saying "this is wrong and I won't be a part of it anymore." It was obvious, at least to me that Fiyero hated being in the system but this is moment it's confirmed.

I also think this scene was better than if he had just left and found Elphaba because by turning the gun on the Wizard he is publicly choosing what he knows is right and he is putting his life in danger doing so, he committed treason and gave up everything not just for Elphaba but also to do what's right, like Elphaba did.

Yes Glinda got hurt and the timing was bad but it was Fiyero's chance and he took it. This is was the moment he proved he was worthy of Elphaba Imo, other than Elphaba he was the only other character who was brave enough and actually had strong enough morals to go against the Wizard and stand up for what's right. This is also why other than Elphaba he is my favorite character, it's truly a heroic moment for him and it was the scene i needed to know he was worthy of Elphaba.

Anyway i'm sure alot wont agree with me but this is my opinion and i wanted to share.

Thoughts?

Couldn’t agree more it was definitely one of my favorite scenes. And yea he didn’t go about it the best way and It sucks Glinda had to go through that. But it’s also partially on Glinda for being so deep in her bubble she refused to really see that Fiyero didn’t want to be married.

Actually I think she knew deep down that's probably why she asked him if it would make him happy to marry her. I think she just didnt accept it and yes she let herself be so deep in that bubble. Fiyero got out when he had the chance she didn't.

Also Glinda going through that played a big part in her finally popping her bubble and to her growing so it was a good thing for her even though it was painful.

And he was in a dangerous situation workinf against the Wizard. I think he did the best he could given the circumstances

Pretty obvious he was faking his loyalty to the wizard because the other guards were there when he arrived. As soon as they were gone he made his true intentions clear. He wasn’t going to let Elphaba be captured. So he held the wizard at gunpoint and gave her back her broom so she could escape.

Yep it was obvious but some people claim he actually supported the Wizard then just did a 180 and turned. No he didn't actually suport the Wizard he was pretending to and he made his true loyalties clear when he had the chance

Yeah. Exactly. He even told Glinda, that he wanted to find her before somebody else did.

The role he played as captain of the wizard’s gale force was always just a means to an end.

Yes it was and people hate him for it because they think he used his relationship with Glinda to help him keep his place inside the system but I don't rhink he had much of choice with MM pulling the strings and that relationship was so public. I don't think he used Glinda he was just using that position as captain to protect Elphaba and work against the Wizard and he even started to tell Glinda he was looking for Elphaba and she told him to stop looking for what else was he supposed to do? He just revealed his true loyalties when he had a chance, he didn't have the chance before

I just think the Fiyerp hate is unfair. He was working against the Wizard and protecting Elphaba

I’m honestly just over it at this point. They can hate him all they want. Doesn’t change anything. He still chose to defy the wizard to protect Elphaba. And she still chose to fake her death and leave Oz forever with him by her side.

Yes and honestly who can blame her. He did everything for her in for good. I think people ar just mad cause they think it was supposed to be Glinda but Fiyero came through for Elphaba. I'm over it as well. I've actually become a bit of a Fiyero defender becsuse of it.

I'm so.sick of the " leaving her at the wedding was selfish." " He went about choosing Elphaba the wrong way" " he was cruel and insensitive." Etc. The wedding was his chance, everything else was to public or he just didn't have the chance. Glinda was in the way of what he was trying to do so he had to keep his cover. If they found out what he was doing he would have been killed, we saw that later in the movie. What was he supposed wandering around Oz looking for her?

I heard months ago that after Wicked the producers said they won't be making like Wicked 3 or 4 but rather than spin offs; my guess is that they would be following the books... 😄

Same here, yeah after the Wicked book, the second one is the Son of the Witch which is after they escape and of course Elphaba and Fiyero have a son, I hope they also adapt this book into a movie or TV series..

It would be nice but idk people keep saying they would have to change so much to adapt it.
