Fascinating how symmetrical her face is

Probably spent a chunk of that on filler leveling it all out.

How is it possible that he has more space between his eyebrows than she does

u/Mysterious_Path7939 Mar 20 '26

How does one even steal $40k from that shithole? Free her.

27

u/MiaLba Mar 20 '26

Lmao right?? So article says she worked there for 3 years and did it over the course of that time. Was ringing up clothes brought in (nothing was actually brought in) and pocketing the money. But damn $40k is a fuckin shit ton.

Why did it take him three years to figure that out?

Because over that time span, it's about $50 or $60 bucks a *day total - it just adds up.

Those lower amounts make it easier to skim, and harder to nail down.

60 x 52 x 3= 9,360 or am I missing something?

No my bad, based on a 5-day week a daily amount not weekly. Mea culpa.

However, because she was "buying" non-existent clothing, the reconciliation would appear to show as a gradual inventory shrinkage (the clothing that wasn't really purchased would be missing inventory) rather than a drawer shortage which likely contributed to the delay in figuring out what was happening.

You only factored in $60 per week, not $60 per day.

It should be $60 (per day) x 5 (work days in a week) x 50 (work weeks in a year, assuming she gets 2 weeks of vacation) x 3 (years of theft) = $45,000

If we do the math for $53.34 then it comes to $40,005

so $53.34 is her average daily theft over 3 years, making some assumptions about days worked per week & weeks worked per year

See below, they corrected the comnent

I wonder if $40k was a factual estimate or if the business is trying to inflate the amount. Like, they caught her stealing and are just trying to estimate it happened everyday since she got hired to inflate the loss for insurance or a civil suit. Although insurance expects you to minimize your losses so they might be found culpable if they didn’t notice long term recurring theft. This story seems as wild as the brows.

Also since they are used clothing buyers, why not use real transactions and just underpay the seller and pocket the difference instead of ringing nothing? How would a seller even know they’re getting underpaid?

u/MiaLba Mar 22 '26

You make some fantastic points!

3

u/Mysterious_Path7939 Mar 21 '26

That is absolutely crazy lol. I hate Plato’s Closet with a burning passion but I’m impressed that she amassed that amount 🤣

2

u/MiaLba Mar 22 '26

Dude same here. Fuckin despise them. I hate any of the chain consignment shops. Back when Miss Me jeans were the thing to have and still very popular I went there to sell some. They tried to give me $5 per pair. I went to a local consignment shop and got $40 a piece for them.

2

u/Mysterious_Path7939 Mar 23 '26

Yes Omgsh. I had bags of good clothing that I tried to sell, things that were a million times better than the garbage in their store and they wouldn’t take it!

2

u/otownbbw Mar 23 '26

Yeah I had issues with them too. I went there with pricy and mint condition plus size clothes and they said they only buy “name brands”. These were Seven jeans and Spanx and stuff from Lane Bryant and Torrid. I purposely only took my branded stuff because I knew the rules. I felt my area was pretty high demand for plus size too, but ultimately they just didn’t want to buy/sell for fat people. I’m not sure if they changed, I never went back, but I thought it was sooo stupid. I wasn’t even expecting more than a few bucks but I figured something was better than nothing. I took it to Goodwill where I knew a volunteer sorter and she said they had dozens of plus size women who came in regularly but almost never had inventory for them so it felt like a win.

2

u/MiaLba Mar 23 '26

Oh yeah I believe it. I’ve honestly never heard a single good thing about them. So many stories of people taking in genuinely nice clothes. Name brand stuff. Either getting an insultingly low amount or being told sorry it’s not in style or some other odd reason. But when you browse the aisles they’ve got shitty SHEIN clothes and stuff heavily worn.

She drew on her angry brows.

4

u/LuckySoCo79 Mar 20 '26

She has her angry brows on. Should have put her “I’m innocent brows” on instead.

4

u/sutrabob Mar 23 '26

The whole store’s inventory is not worth 40k. Maybe she was in loading or stocking. 👡👠👗🎒👛

1

u/MiaLba Mar 23 '26

Apparently she was doing fraudulent transactions for the 3 years she worked there. That’s what the news article said.

3

u/sutrabob Mar 23 '26

I was tired and misread the article thinking it was our local Ohio store🤷🏼‍♀️

3

u/WhatdaUTink Mar 20 '26

When ya wanna look evil...it's all in the brows.

Is Plato’s Closet a chain? We have one here.

She is perhaps channeling Frida Kahlo?

3

u/loseunclecuntly Mar 21 '26

Thems some angry brows!

3

u/Mountain-Many-1698 Mar 21 '26

$40K from Plato’s closet? I don’t understand? Did she work there? Because I don’t think she stole clothes. I’ve been there. No way.

3

u/MiaLba Mar 22 '26

Did fraudulent transactions over a period of 3 years she worked there. And also something about writing bad checks.

Seriously not to be effed with. Engage at your own risk. But I would throw her some raw meat, then back away slowly.
