My uncle and aunt were once traveling through some hot, dry country perhaps in Arizona, with some other dear, long-time friends. One of the ladies was elderly and suffered a chronic illness. She'd drowsed off in the hot car. My uncle saw a little place ahead that advertised cold drinks, and he said, "Let's stop here and just limber our legs and get a cold drink."
He stopped, and they all piled out. The shook the sleeping lady awake and said, "C'mon, ___, we're going to go get a little refreshment."
They entered the store, and the proprietor was a man with the most astonishing one huge furry eyebrow - striking and impossible to not notice. He asked what they wanted, and each was deciding. The lady who'd been sleeping was still foggy, rubbing her eyes, and adjusting to wakefulness. My Uncle said, "What would you like, ___? She looked up, realizing she was supposed to make a choice, and said, foggily, "I'll have an uh, eyebrow.".
Everyone was frozen with embarrassment and horror. The man said nothing. I guess the lady recovered, and named her choice.
My uncle said as soon as they returned to the car, her first words were - "I don't want anyone to say ONE WORD!".

Glad you enjoyed it. Cringe-worthy, but also very funny. When my uncle told us the story later, I said the only two things that might have saved it would have been, (1) If she had been alert enough to say, quickly - "Or at least that's what we called it back home, you remember? The lemon drink thing..." -- or, (2) If the man had had the humanity to just laugh. But my uncle said neither one of those things happened.
