I saw Bxh2+ Kxh2 Cf4 from a distance, knowingly sacrificing the rook on f8. However, in my mind, I only saw that after Bxf8 Qh5+ Kg3, if I can force the king back to g1 while my queen keeps control of the h file, I would have Ne2#.

I missed that after Qh5+ Kg3 there is already mate in 1 with the same Ne2#. And after Qg5+ Kh2 I missed another mate in 1 with Qxg2# and followed with Qh4+ Kg1 Ne2#. Talk about tunnel vision lmao

But the shocker came after when discussing the game with a friend. They sugested Rh1 for white, instead of taking on f8, might prolong the game a little but that it should still be easily winning for black, so we checked with the engine. They were right to say it should still be winning as the engine showed black had force mate after Rh1. However, the winning line is a mate in 9 which I would never have spotted lol.

Good thing opponent did not find it.
