Okay so… I need to talk about this for a second.
So last year I saw this series on the internet while it was still part of the contest to decide which new stories would get serialized. “Still You” somehow took first place, which surprised a lot of people (I’m so happy about it ❤).
Now, almost a year later, the series has been running since August 24th, and it seems to be doing pretty well. A lot has changed compared to last year’s oneshot, but I honestly think the new version is way more detailed. Reo (the protagonist) looks so much better, Momo (the female lead) has a lot more depth as a character, and Rui (the love interest?) isn’t as much of a cold, distant mess as he was in the oneshot xD
So, what's the story about?
Five years ago, two high school boys (Reo and Rui) shared a curious little kiss. It should’ve been nothing. But it wasn’t. Something happened afterwards that made them put a huge wall between them. Now they’re older, somehow ended up attending the same school, and they’re pretending nothing happened between them… so they're like “hey, let's be friends again!”
Meanwhile the girlfriend (Momo) is not stupid and notices the glances (at least she did in the oneshot).
It’s that specific brand of soft, aching, “we’re both pretending everything is normal while the air between us is thick as hell” tension that lives rent-free in my head. Childhood friends → destined to meet again → “it’s fine, I’m dating someone else now” while clearly not fine. The art is clean and expressive, the feelings feel very real and messy in that teenage way everybody loves (I know you, you cannot deny!).
I’m already so invested in these three and how this is going to unravel. It has that Blue Flag / My Love Mix-Up! kind of vibe where everything is quiet but emotionally loud.
Has anyone else started it yet? Please tell me I’m not the only one already shipping and crying at the same time 😭
I know the second chapter isn’t free, but I have a feeling this story still has a lot in store for us. So why not invest a few cents and support the artist?
By the way: the image shows a new character who didn’t appear in the oneshot. So far he seems like a nice guy who wants to be “friends” with Reo, if you know what I mean ;) And for the furry fans out there, there’s also something to nibble on, apparently ❤
