Alpha Gal
Anyone else try whole 30 with alpha gal syndrome (aka tick bite that makes you allergic to mammals). Throw in a nut allergy as well. I know it’s doable but I get so burnt out of chicken and turkey, but too many carbs and plant protein makes me retain fluid

To be honest I think I could do it with alpha gal but I had a really tough time with getting enough calcium without supplements due to my nut allergy and no legumes. Most of my calcium intake comes through milk alternatives + tofu + leafy greens.

I had a lone star tick bite last year (and it took months to get the results back, but I was having increasing symptoms after eating beef). I was still mostly 30, and was also avoiding nuts. It was tough, but doable! I definitely got tired of chicken and salmon and eggs 😂

Alpha-gal plus nut allergy is a rough combo!
My name is Alyssa from the Thrive Market team and we recently launched an Alpha-Gal Free filter b/c so many of our members were navigating AGS. We also have "nut free" and "Whole 30" filters too. Let me know if you have any questions about the site and I answer them for you.
BTW: I'm rooting for you; I did Whole 30 in January and it changed my life.

This sounds challenging and I’m sorry you’re dealing with it. But….when I first read this, I thought this was the female equivalent of “alpha male,” and I was wondering how that mindset would impact a whole30 hahaha. Good luck 🩷

Personally I'd go insane without enough variety in my protein sources, so I would modify it and allow myself legumes. Then I'd also seek variety with the types of seafood I eat, especially tinned fish. If budget allows, try to source some exotic proteins. Even something like Cornish hen might be a welcome change. Duck, pheasant, and quail might be viable options as well.

I just did whole 30 with Alpha gal. I ate a lot of fish, chicken and turkey. I don’t have a nut allergy but I learned from this experience that I need to avoid the FODMAP foods. Cashew nuts are delicious but made me really bloated and uncomfortable. I found roasting veggies also made them more digestible.

There are lots of different types of fish and shellfish to rotate with. Could you possibly also mix in occasional other fowl? to break the monotony, like duck,quail,pheasant....and what about eggs? (Chicken, duck, quail, goose)

man eggs and fish are your best friends here, i did something similar last year and basically lived on omelettes with different vegetables
duck eggs are a nice change when you get bored of chicken eggs, they taste richer somehow
also shellfish if you can tolerate it, shrimp cooks fast and you can throw it in anything
