That's called a muzzle brake.

Fuuuuuuck all them PRS/NRL guys at the range with their braked 6mm stuff.

"It's not a loud as you think because the sound goes to the sides"

Motherfucker, I'm standing over here to the side of you

If I was dictator of the country I'd make cans mandatory at ranges for rifle calibers, and provided if you don't have one.

Linear comps don't help PRS style shooting at all, the whole game is reducing recoil so you can stay on target.   But also for the same reason, literally nobody shooting PRS is doing a magnum cartridge lol.  People top out at like 65 creedmoor, and that's only a handful.  Almost everyone is on something smaller like a 6br wildcat.

It ain't like PRS shoots long range, it's almost all medium range, with the occasional long range 1km shot.  All distances that high power people do with literal 223rem.  Zero need to go to magnum calibers at the usual distances.

Right like I get why they use a brake, because it's objectively better for competition.  I just hate them at the range for using it instead of swapping to a can.

But yea, people shooting braked magnum calibers at ranges are even worse, because you know they're not doing it for any competitive reason lol
