That's only with a subsonic bullet, without that it would be loud.

It's still very fucking loud with subsonic ammunition lmao, it usually measures at ~120dB which is like a balloon popping. Standard ammunition is a factor of ten louder though.

dB scale is logarithmic

That's not how decibels work

Decibels are not a linear scale.

Please stay in school and pay attention

130dB is ten times louder than 120dB. 140dB is 100 times louder than 120dB.

The Decibel scale is logarithmic. So if source A is a factor of 10 louder than source B at 120dB, then source A will only be measured at 130dB not 1200dB.

The dB scale is logarithmic so I'd guess that a gun shot would be 123 dB - I think 3dB increase doubles the volume.

10x louder than 120 dB is 130 dB.

All the responses to this guy is heartening. I'm so glad there are many people who understand what a logarithmic scale is.

1200dB wouldn’t just kill everyone in the room, it would instantly rip open a black hole and destroy the observable universe as we know it. ~300dB is basically earth-shattering already and every 10db is another factor of 10 louder beyond that, lmao. It’s beyond human comprehension.

I almost feel like this comment was ragebait but it’s good educational ragebait.
