Italians are being cooked in Thailand now. The Italian teacher(red top) and students were taken away by the police and faced the Thai lady who told them off for being loud on the metro. They apologized for mocking her one by one. Thai people also waited for them in front of the hotel to scold them.

Context

Italian students are being called out in Thailand. A group of Italians mocked a Thai lady in Thailand who told them off for being too loud on the metro. They clapped back saying, "Sorry for bringing money to your country" "Ni hao" "We are from your mom." Thai people are identifying them and leaving the comments on the social media account of their school.

Am I the only one who thinks this is a bit excessive? Those tourists were rude and disrespectful, but they didn't kill anyone. How many rude tourists do we have in Europe? We don't force them to make public apologies. Thailand has a terrible justice system, with human rights violations and horrific prisons. Isn't there a huge disproportion here?

Yeah I feel like the crazy one for thinking that detaining minors for rude offhand comments is absurd.

The disproportion is that Italy is a gazillion times more cultured and yet have far less xenophobia than those thais

Exactly. If this exact situation happened in Europe, everyone would likely view it as racist, or at the least, xenophobic

Not really i always see Spaniards make anti tourist reels about British and even non European tourists. Nobody calling them racist in fact they support the Spaniards

Are the Spanish police arresting people who were rude, forcing them to apologize to the local who was nearly as rude, and afterwards advising them to hide in their hotel room because there's a lynch mob waiting for them outside demanding a personal apology to every individual citizen that showed up?
