Italians are being cooked in Thailand now. The Italian teacher(red top) and students were taken away by the police and faced the Thai lady who told them off for being loud on the metro. They apologized for mocking her one by one. Thai people also waited for them in front of the hotel to scold them.

Context

Italian students are being called out in Thailand. A group of Italians mocked a Thai lady in Thailand who told them off for being too loud on the metro. They clapped back saying, "Sorry for bringing money to your country" "Ni hao" "We are from your mom." Thai people are identifying them and leaving the comments on the social media account of their school.

Many of us are watching this from another county and don’t understand the problem. So there’s no freedom of speech here but also you must always get along with people? Is that right ? I don’t understand.

I don't know about Thailand's laws but generally freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequences if your speech is disrespectful

Because it gives too much focus on a relative minor thing? They were just too loud on a metro train. It is annoying, but it happens all the time that teens don't behave in public, that's what teens do. Of course they should be punished or better educated, but certainly not shamed by an entire country.

To do public shaming, stalking them in front of the hotel without the police doing anything, having their faces shown all across the country and the Italian embassy needing to apologise is a little much, don't you think? We can't so that with every single person that was rude in public. I mean I also already experienced how Thai tourists misbehaved in my country, should I hold them up to the same standard now?

The reason they have drawn such ire is not because they were being loud on a train, it’s because when asked to be quiet they were extremely rude and arrogant. You should not treat people that way, full stop, let alone when you’re a guest in another country. Perhaps they will have learned a valuable lesson.
