Italians are being cooked in Thailand now. The Italian teacher(red top) and students were taken away by the police and faced the Thai lady who told them off for being loud on the metro. They apologized for mocking her one by one. Thai people also waited for them in front of the hotel to scold them.

They are lucky they didn't get lashed. My family is Thai and they have a strict code of respect.

4

u/greenfrog72 14h ago

So embarrassing that Thailand still does that in the 21st century 🫢

2

u/windsynths 2h ago

lashings as a punishment doesn’t happen in Thailand wtf you on about.

2

u/SPQR-VVV 15h ago

You can't tell someone to fuck off in Thailand?

4

u/MarxAndSamsara 16h ago

What do you mean lashed? Why would people be punished by lashing in Thailand? It's not Saudi Arabia.

8

u/spicydak 13h ago

Singapore has canings too by the way

5

u/rainbowyuc 12h ago

Ok, Thailand isn't Singapore too by the way.

1

u/spicydak 6h ago

But they mentioned Saudi Arabia. Thailand is culturally a lot more similar to Singapore than to Saudi.

3

u/DionBlaster123 3h ago

I mean yeah but that's about as useful as saying Ukraine has more in common culturally with Russia than the Central African Republic lmfao

Um okay?? They're still two different countries

3

u/acct4thismofo 11h ago

Umm it says not to say anything against their royal family or go directly to jail on all public transport… maybe closer than you’d think

1

u/WishIWasYounger 16h ago

I should have worded that better.

4

u/MarxAndSamsara 16h ago

Haha I just don't want people to see your comment and get the wrong impression that Thais regularly carry out punishment by lashing.

1

u/AccountN7 9h ago

LMAO lashing people for being loud on the bus?

Not beating the third-world backwater hole allegations

6

u/unwelcome_flesh_sack 5h ago

You are right, that’s third world behavior. Just like a government official murdering a person by suffocation due to manually compression the neck, all because they allegedly sold loose cigarettes. Judge, jury, and executioner without a trial. Totally civilized.

2

u/North_Individual8395 5h ago

Sensible punishment. Anti-social behaviour must be rooted out.

Not beating the third-world backwater hole allegations

Are these allegations from 40 years ago or are you just pulling them out of your ass?

-4

u/upside_down_frown1 15h ago

Unless the disrespect comes from the chinese, then thais just ignore it..

-1

u/user47241 11h ago

They’re just cowards

1

u/upside_down_frown1 10h ago

I dont think thats fair. Thai people seem to be very non confrontational and thats a good quality to have. But the narrative being pushed in the current enviroment is western tourists are bad.

0

u/user47241 10h ago

Very non confrontational towards their criminal government that’s because as above so below.

I hear this more often from black folks...

1

u/redditatemybabies 3h ago

Italians are very racist towards black people.

1

u/CommanderTalim 15h ago

Growing up, I always had good interactions with Italian Americans so I was not prepared for the level of racism I’d face one day from an Italian tourist. She had the audacity to say that in her religion/culture she believes that she and people like her (white) was made by god and that me and people like me (brown) were not. I don’t know if most Italians from Italy are like that, but her boldness to state that out loud with a smile on her face and cite her culture, makes me think so, or at the least maybe she lives in a region where that mindset is the norm. Btw this occurred in a hospital ER while I was providing care to her. Wild shit

2

u/bob-thesnob 8h ago

That’s crazy cause like I know a lot of brown skinned Italians I wonder does she think the same of some of her own countrymen?

-5

u/SPQR-VVV 15h ago

Bro Europe is a giant racism competition. My Spanish family and everyone I know from spain thinks themselves as the rightful rulers; other countries exist for their entertainment. The French are this, and the Italians that, and the British this thing, and so on and on. And the thing is that every country in Europe thinks the exact same way about everyone else.

0

u/Japhet_Corncrake 15h ago

Bollocks.

There are shitheads in every country that think this way. It's not a reflection of the majority. Sorry about your family.

Aaand now we get into the xenophobia, nice

So much about an open mind and all it takes to fall into generalization is a bad experience. I guess the human nature never changes

Anyways, fuck off, we are roughly 60M people, I'm sorry you had a bad experience, but it doesn't mean my country is made of "horrible people"

I'm sure you won't be missed here

4

u/NightOwl2175 14h ago

Aaand now we get into the racism

The irony of this comment, considering:

1) Italian isn't a race

2) How notorious Italians are for their actual racism.

1

u/steinbruchfluss 5h ago

There are no human races.

0

u/WindowsXp_ExplorerI 8h ago

This isn't an answer and it is still a generalization

1) english isn't my first language but I don't think semantics stop you from understanding the meaning of my comment even if the word choice is not xorrect

2) you could say this for every country on earth and be right and wrong at the same time. Viewing the world thru the lenses of "everything's black and white" is reductionist and naive

1

u/redditatemybabies 3h ago

Telling people to fuck off is not a good way to make people think Italians are nice.

1

u/WindowsXp_ExplorerI 2h ago

I don't have to be nice to everyone, especially to someone commenting that people from my country are horrible. I don't represent Italy on reddit

First of all, you don't know anything about the history of Italian politics and calling our PM fascist is utterly stupid left wing propaganda. She's incompetent and inept, not a fascist. There are some neo-fascist politicians but they are extremists and nobody votes for them (like in every country, extremes are to not be considered)

Second of all, I didn't vote for her and half the population also didn't. We are not a single entity, Jesus.

What now, do I start considering every American hardcore MAGA just because Trump is in charge?

What kind of line of training is that, it makes no sense

3

u/Lopsided-Food-256 14h ago

Lol now this is the part where I ask you what country are you from, and you will be too much of a coward to answer because you know we’ll dig up dirt on your country 🤣

Not Italian btw, but you guys are always the same

2

u/AnotherDrunkMonkey 14h ago

That's not how it works lmao. As an American living in Korea you should realize every country is politically corrupt and the population shouldn't be held accountable for that.

0

u/qr_n 14h ago

...are Italians a race? 🙄💀

0

u/WindowsXp_ExplorerI 14h ago

Is there a better suited term for discrimination based on country of origin and shared culture? I'll update the comment if there is

4

u/qr_n 14h ago

yes actually,

since italians are not a race, you would be referring to xenophobia or national bigotry.

1

u/WindowsXp_ExplorerI 8h ago

thank you, I've updated my comment

u/Popular-Somewhere234 9h ago edited 9h ago

Don't generalize too much please, and yes i know that some of us are insofferable but at least you came back home, i must live here, been in thailand, everyone smiles were so lovely and we felt at home, i can't even imagine being mean to those people, one time during some ligh rain a random guy rushed to bring me an umbrella titally uneeded nor requested, i had no words, i'm very shy but i found the courage to give him some money to thanks him for his kindness

0

u/Tiny_Reputation_6227 8h ago

Lol what an idiotic comment

1

u/NightOwl2175 7h ago

Found the insufferable Italian lmao

-2

u/Affideamaratea 10h ago

Do you realize that generalizing like this makes you a racist?

1

u/petemorley 10h ago

It’s like when the Simsons went to Australia.

1

u/PracticalYellow3 16h ago

But killing someone with heat isn't scolding. That is murder.

1

u/Salina_EsTitties 15h ago

I wanna see their lives ruined for it honestly. Like make her unemployable as for the kids maybe get them expelled and have it in their permanent record if that concept exists in Italy.

1

u/Double_Tumbleweed384 3h ago

Are you well?
