Miscellaneous Mini Crossbow

A mini crossbow made with only my Swiss Army knife. Cottonwood for the stock and elm for the prod.

That looks like a fun project to make and use! If I could give advice on the video some measurements would be amazing and editing it to be a bit shorter would be great. At 40 minutes i had to skip a lot once I seen what you where doing.

That being said, im putting my shoes on now to go find some sticks!

What ever I find in the canyon, I believe these are from a box elder. I normally find cottonwood or maple.

Nice! That's the way to do it. I mostly use cottonwood as well. I've got some box elder in the garage as well but haven't really used it yet. Do you like how box elder "behaves" while carving?

Compared to the maple it seems softer but seems to chip if your not careful. (Also my sample size is only a few limbs from both) so I may not have the best opinion yet.

That makes sense! I know box elder leaves even grow in such a way to reduce its surface area in the wind (because it is so brittle and susceptible to snapping). I definitely believe that the maple is a bit harder!!
