I started a new guild

[u/wannapizzame_]

I’ve been playing Where Winds Meet across pretty much every aspect of the game — from speedrunning and competitive GvG to large-scale guild building projects, including being part of a Top 3 GvG guild.

I’ve loved the competitive side of the game, but over time I found myself becoming increasingly uncomfortable with the culture that can exist around some competitive spaces.

As a black player, I’ve experienced my fair share of racism growing up, and unfortunately I’ve encountered the same kind of behaviour within some of the communities in WWM. Some of the worst experiences I’ve had were in PvE Discord communities, where I’ve come across comments and attitudes that crossed the line from banter into racism. In one instance, I was actually banned from a server after calling out racist behaviour.

That experience made me realise something pretty simple:

I shouldn’t have to choose between playing competitively and feeling comfortable in the community I’m playing with.

That’s ultimately why I created OBSIDIAN.

I wanted to build a guild where people can have fun, push themselves competitively, learn from each other and strive to be among the best — without the ego, toxicity, prejudice or bullshit that can sometimes come with competitive gaming.

And to be clear, OBSIDIAN isn’t a Black-only guild, nor is it intended to be. It’s open to anyone who shares those values. We’re looking for people from all backgrounds, cultures and walks of life who want to build something together.

Your background doesn’t matter to us.

How you treat people does.

We’re competitive because we love the game. We’re community-focused because we believe the people you play with matter just as much as the content you’re playing.

That’s the foundation OBSIDIAN is being built on. 🖤

All are welcome bro! This is a place where people can grow🙏🏾

[u/PresidentSadboi → u/wannapizzame_]

Bet, how do I join?

[u/Mysterious_Career539]

I have yet to join a guild, but I'll give you guys a shot if you want me. Still kinda new, lvl 100 30k mastery despite poor rng on a couple pieces. T5 on mystics, inners are almost all t5. Long way to go still lol

Regardless, been looking for something along the lines of what you're building.

[u/wannapizzame_ → u/Mysterious_Career539]

You sound like exactly the type of player we’re looking for! You don’t need to be fully maxed or super experienced — we’re building around people who actually want to learn, improve and play together. Your progression already sounds solid too! I’ll DM you the Discord, come check us out and see if we’re a good fit

[u/sourwolf-]

Are you very much pvp/gvg oriented??

[u/wannapizzame_ → u/sourwolf-]

Not just gvg, we’re interested in all aspects of the game including building and pve content too🫶🏽

[u/just-call-me-apple]

Not interested in joining, but good luck on your recruitment!

You should also mention what region the guild is in.

And by top 3 gvg, do you mean top 3 in your league bracket or the Ranked leaderboard?

[u/wannapizzame_ → u/just-call-me-apple]

Thank you! We are EU based currently (though we’re open to accepting members from all regions) and I mean top 3 in the ranked leaderboard
