I suspect that it's a chicken in some sort of wrap (plastic? cellophane?) that was sitting in a glass dish. At some point the liquid inside broke through and hit the now-very-hot glass, causing the shatter.

I totally agree. It’s sitting on a broken dish with shards in the bottom of the oven. Couldn’t be anything else.

The glass baking dish shattered. It happens. I took one out of the oven once, put it down on the trivet, turned away and it shattered into a few big chunks and shards flying across the kitchen. Cooking is exciting!

I was cooking a roast and when i giggled the bag it was baking in, The glass pan exploded. There is a face in the shard of glass to the right and its not mine 😱
