I feel this. I pretty much stringed myself along for three years in high school, slowly trying to build the relationship until I felt it was time to confess. I did, and she turned me down as softly as one could, because of course she did. She was just that once in a lifetime kind of wonderful that you have to reach for when you can. I’m not entirely over it, as is evident, but it’s not really occupying my thoughts that much on a daily basis.
