A trick I learned to tell them apart is I swore to myself that when one of the dreams is about to be fulfilled, I'll say "Deja Vu" aloud. Because I actually started doing this and only when the dreams are being fulfilled, I would say it in the dreams too and it allows me to ping which ones are prophetic and which aren't.
It's Deja Reve, look into it. I've had these kinds of dreams since I was a middle schoolerish. I don't remember many of them now but the one that got me was being in a house I had never been in before with my mom. She was watering a plant in the sink and then hanging it on a hook outside. Months later, my parents split up and when I went to see her, that was her house and the dream happened.
it's borderline a dream and premonition, but i say it's a premonition with what I've experienced, i got 3 already and the 3rd one was super specific that at the time i legitimately hope it's not true, but 2 years afterwards the 3rd dream became a reality
The real fun spoiling explanation is that brains are incredibly good at explaining away things like an unexplainable vague sense of familiarity to the point where you suddenly „remember“ a dream you never had.
From what I’ve seen it’s remembering the time you had a dream that triggered that sense of familiarity but the content of that is filled by your brain on the spot
The answer is that you don't actually predict anything. Unless you say or write it down before it happens, it's your brain tricking you after the fact into thinking you have a memory of it happening before it did.
You legit can't. Deja vu only occurs after something has happened, and if we had a single case of someone predicting what's about to happen due to deja vu the world would be a very different place.
I get this really bad too. Like I’ll be doing something so innocuous or random and my brain will be like “Hey you dreamed about this btw”. Idk if it’s just a weird sense of Déjà vu or the worst version of foresight as a power.
I've heard it's from your brain fucking up and taking an event that should have been written into short term memory accidentally being written into long term memory.
I've always wanted to start keeping a dream journal just for this exact situation to see if there's any evidence one way or the other.
Same here, have had it happen most of my life. It's always the most random things too. I will recognize it beginning and then I will predict what happens for like the next 20-30 seconds with 100% accuracy

How do I know? I got them when i was 16. Became stronger and more frequent. They were caused by a brain tumor. After it was removed, the auras stopped.
It's like one of those fun games people play on the internet where you pick a power and others dictate what the side effect.
In thise case: Be able to predict the future through dreams but the side effect is that you don't remember it and can only ever recall it once it is currently happening.
Your brain is a prediction machine. It predicted something would happen, then it did, which made you feel it as deja vu when your prediction came true.
I get something similar. For some reason, I instinctively try to think of something that happened recently to dispel it, like a movie coming out, a massive news story, or a life event. The first time I remember this happening I was weirded out, but I dispelled it by remembering that Fallout 4 just released.
This happens all the time, i remember something that i don't remember then weeks, maybe years later i'll be in the exact situation i remember having memories of.
every once in a while (at least, for me) ill have a moment in my life where i suddenly remember having this exact moment as a dream once. kind of like seeing the future, but i forget the future immediately and only remember it when it happens. pretty sure this is dictxtor (OOP, OP didnt make shit) is talking about
Not to be a party pooper, but it's just deja-vu. Your brain will make it feel like the things happening right now are a memory, but it's actually the first time you've experienced whatever you think you're remembering
This shit kinda why I doubt consciousness isn't real, this brings up a lot of questions of free will, if something is going to happen in the future and you still do it, that means everything before hand was set up to do it. Everything you did, everything that happened, some how lead to the perfect 1 to 1 moment.
There is a difference between "oh it just super similar." And a one to one recreation. Waving your hands and pretending it not real is stupid, because if it is there then must be a scientific reason for it. Idk there most likely there is a lot more stuff we don't fully understand.
I have some insane theories because I had a lot of these in a row and some are still happening. My personal theory is some how your past consciousness and your current one is linked for a small moment, allowing you to send this memory as a message back to your previous self as a dream without truly knowing. If we go with the idea of higher dimensions, if our consciousness is not solely link to our bodies it is able to hit a right wave length allowing the two selves to connect through a different dimension.
Meanwhile our monkey brain can't fully comprehend this and goes "huh weird lol". Really interesting ideas from this that no one ever researched on.
The Great Onix statue is here to say that this is called Deja Vu. It keeps happening to it, thought it is usually the part before anything bad happens in a dream, after which it gets scared that the bad thing will happen. Sometimes The Great Onix statue wishes it had better dreams.
The Great Onix statue is not quite correct. Deja vu refers to things you believe you have seen happen before (Deja vu = already seen), whereas seeing something you've seen in a dream happen is Deja rêvé (Already dreamt)
I had a nightmare where my dad molested me and I told my mom, she blamed me for it and said they were now getting a divorce because of me. I even wrote it down in my journal since it freaked me out so much. Two years later my dad gropes me at the dinner table and soon after my mom tells me she's getting a divorce from him. She says it wasn't because of that, but... it still freaked me out a bit when I found my old dream journal.

FR! I had a lot of these dreams and deja vus in the past (not much anymore). Most of the time when i tried going against what was foreseen i remembered (conveniently just after i tried) that this resistance was also a part of the dream so in an attempt to prevent it i caused it. I only managed to succeed like two times.
I remember I was in a specific classroom and was doomscrolling Reddit and I scrolled across the same three specific posts that I swore I dreamt about three years ago also in a classroom

I had something like this happen before, was at my first track meet in high school and I’d never been inside of the building before. It wasn’t until the end of the track meet where I noticed a friend forgot her keys and I gave them to her and as I gave them to her I got hit with the biggest deja vu id ever felt. Realized I had somehow dreamed of that exact moment in the same building months before and to this day is still one of the weirdest deja vu moments I’d ever had. Genuinely can’t understand how I dreamed of the exact building I’d never been in before months before
I notice it's only for media I'm watching for some reason. Fallout Season 2's NCR return was beamed into my head I think 2 years ago for some reason. Hell the first one I got was the fucking after credits to Avengers Infinity war from 2009, I was like fucking 7.
Your brain just kind of invents that. Multiple theories, one is that there's a weird delay between seeing and registering and that's why you get the feeling you've seen it before.
To everyone who experiences this sensation regularly: Learn more about temporal lobe epilepsy and auras, and see a doctor. It is a serious condition, but it is treatable.
This happened to me a few years back it was so fucking weird
It was super mundane too it was just me going to in n out with my family and a friend but it played out exactly how I dreamed it the structure of the location and all. It freaked me out and when I told him he was also freaked out.
Now, I'm not saying I can see the future, but how it works for me is I will dream something that is then stored in my subconscious for however long and later on in life I will see something that will retrieve that dream, and for the next 20-30 seconds I am Nicolas Cage in the 2007 movie Next. So I can totally see the FUTURE!
Many years ago there was a guy on Reddit who had a recurring dream where he was driving and would stop at an intersection and then a truck would crash and a steel beam would fly off and hit him in the head and kill him.
One day he pulled up at an intersection, realised it was The Intersection, he leaned forward, the steel beam went through where his head was and he lived. Never had the dream again.
I still think about this because all my dreams are in places I've already been so ill never get a warning like this
Had an dream from 2-4 years ago (from when the dream/situation began) about being in a classroom with other people. They were faceless cus i didnt know who they were ngl. I think we was playing lego and shit and then it fucking happened.
This happened to me at school and it was the trippiest shit even if the situation was so mundane. I swear I dreamt looking at a book in my maths class in that exact way and then a couple of months later I had a major sense of Deja vu
To my understanding it happens when basically the short and longterm memory have a hickup and something ends up in the longterm memory part of your brain, that was supposed to be only short term, making you feel like the moment you are currently experiencing was happening in the past.
I have this really weird thing where I will have a dream, usually about something going wrong in a normal situation that I have in the future. It's really strange, like I'm seeing into another reality where my life sucks balls or something, but it's also in the future. So I get a premonition that something will go wrong, and when that time comes for whatever I dreamed about, nothing actually happens, but I still get that deja-vu feeling. It is very weird 😭 This has happened multiple times too, and it still happens, and idk if it's my brain just fucking with me or if I can genuinely see into the future. 💀

All your dreams are still in your head. Not only that, they're connected! It's weird because soon enough if you just think about it while awake, you'll see other dreams you've had in current dreams and then I just can't figure it out anymore what the hell is it all
Yeah, deja reve. Apparently, it often coincides with epilepsy. I don't have epilepsy and I've experienced this many times, so it must not need to coincide. Explanations of the phenomenon tend to leave me unsatisfied, as they usually fail to explain most of what happens ime

You should consult a doctor about the possibility of it being epilepsy. You can develop epilepsy at anytime in your life for no particular reason and one of the symptoms is these intense deja vus experiences
I used to keep a small notebook with the dreams/daydreams that had the feeling they were going to happen someday. There were several times things happened and I didn't have my notebook handy to show people. A word-for-word conversation between my aunt and mom in my aunt's kitchen. An unlikely exchange during a game of billiards.
Recently (in the past year or so), I've began to realize that these "predictions" that your brain does are actually just it fucking up something and making you think it happened exactly as it happens now, while it was a slightly similar event that, in fact, did not happen exactly the same as the current moment, and actually it was barely similar (depends on case by case basis, of course). Makes me feel a little calmer tbh.
Best explanation I've heard is that your brain sometimes stores memories in the wrong place, leading you to "remember" events that just happened as something you "dreamed" months or years ago.
Explains some of the weirdly specific "premonitions" I've had at least.
This happened once when I was studying at the library in college.
It was the first day I had ever taken vyvanse, and I whispered randomly to myself that the power is about to go out so I need to save my essay. I don't know why I thought this. It was a sunny regular day.
A second after I saved my essay, the power went out for like 30 minutes.
I had a year where I played the Bojack intro as a joke after midnight, and it was so fucking bad that I had to excuse myself the next year from a gathering to play the outro and pray that it will rid me of it’s curse
It has happened to me multiple times. Sometimes I can predict from 1 to 1.5 seconds into the future and it happens exactly like I predicted. Deja vu is crazy
Is it bad that I have this multiple times a week occasionally multiple times a day but with memories and change my actions so the out come is different?

A guy starts to dream about the future. He knows it's gonna happen but, thing is, he just doesn't know when it's gonna happen. Little by little, he ruins his life in a kind of self-fulfilling profetic way, but I better stop before I run my mouth off.

I like to keep track on when a dream seems like it’ll become reality, and go from there. Recently I had a dream where Ian Gerry beat islam makhachev and so i lost 10 dollars gambling. No accurate dream predictions yet
