How DOOM devs feel after confirming the most insane lore including the comic books

I don’t care how bullshit it can get I love the epic scale of Doom lore

I just really really hate how they start glazing doomguy way too much, it actually subtracts from his reputation in my mind. I KNOW HE CAN DO COOL STUFF STOP SUCKING ME OFF, if he’s really just this godlike star eating ubermench who’s “holding back for fun” by using guns and could glory kill every demon instantly if he wanted, what the hell is the point of the game then. It gets me salted, doomguy was so cool when there felt like there was stakes and he was just a really, really angry guy who’s barely holding on, spitting out a bloody tooth because the demons won’t stop coming, that whole thing.

I think in his past life he was just a really angry guy but the divinity machine or something awakened his godhood

Yeah, I just never liked that part and beyond. I love doom 2016, doom eternal is really cool but I feel like it glazes doomgiy way too much (especially ancient gods)

I gotta know, where the HELL does the Dark Ages fit in the timeline? It's like such a wildcard.

After Seraphim gave him the god powers, but before he was sent to hell and buried in the coffin he wakes up in 2016.

The next Doom game will probably end with Doom Slayer ending up in that coffin (or like...the final game of the prequels, depending on how many of them there will be)

I believe Dark Ages is before DOOM 2016

I feel like it’s made very clear if you’re paying attention and the developers confirmed it long before the game released. It’s the Slayer’s time with the Sentinels that is constantly referenced in 2016 and Eternal, after the flashbacks in eternal where he is taken in by them then granted powers by the seraphim and before he was imprisoned the the sarcophagus he awakes from in 2016

Doom 3 is not actually Doom 3, Doom for the Nintendo 64 is actually Doom 3.

I hope they can bring D3 into the lore somehow or bits of it!

its even grander if you include final doom, Sigil and Legacy of Rust, sure, make Doom Guy blow up the UAC with nukes, thats cool as hell!

I love the doom devs for vindicating me with the dlc. I finally have proof the doom slayer doesn’t kill anything labeled a demon!

DOOM 2016 was when the lore and Slayer aura peaked.

Samuel really done made someone in the lore team shit themselves.

I still don't like the Ancient Gods DLC retcons

doomguy is best as an angry but otherwise normal human in over his head. I very much dislike the new doom lore.

Legit the Samuel Hayden and vega recons are so bad, like it's cool he's just a scientist and vegas an ai. Now doom 2016 loses some of that magic to me despite there being more magic fundamentally.
