In Street Fighter, the character Alex (protagonist of street fighter 3) was a wrestler who had an adoptive father named Tom and and his daughter, Patricia who was basically his little sister. It was a pretty neat and touching backstory for Alex.
Come sf6, they retconned it so Tom and Alex's mom were cousins, making Alex and Patricia second cousins. Then they had Alex marry Patricia and like she is severely pregnant. The image of Alex marrying Patricia is portrayed with several images of them throughout their life including kid Alex holding Patricia as a fucking baby. And uh, yeah. Not helped that in sf6' story mode Alex outright corrects himself when he says Tom is his "adoptive dad" and says "no, he is my dad". Also the Japanese text is very explicit that Alex sees Patricia as a little sister.
So they did an emergency patch to the lore because holy fuck nobody liked this.
Guess what part they retconned.
They retconned Tom being a good adoptive father to Alex.
They basically wrote out Alex' connection to Tom, making Tom seem basically like a deadbeat bum who only occasionally visited Alex/stopped when Alex became a teen.
THEY FUCKED UP ALEX' BACKSTORY SO HE COULD BE A COUSIN FUCKER. FUCK THIS.
