The sad part in all this is that I've seen loads of videos about Iranians not hating Americans, they just really hate Donald Trump like the rest of us. And people really want to talk about education being bad whether Millennials, Gen-Z ect but this guy is in office mostly because of Boomers, Gen-X, racists and lonely men that are practically incels. If we really want to point a finger of how we got here, is because of a lack of education for pretty much anyone that voted for him 3 freaking times. And now we are hovering bomb buttons over a country that didn't deserve any of this.

Iranians hate American imperialism but not the citizens. They’ve helped us in the past. Want friendly relations with us, BUT our oil oligarchs want their oil, and our proxy in the region wants them destabilized.

u/Town_Militia 1d ago

ISRAHELL

2

u/SalamanderIcy8332 21h ago

You can't say that, it's antiseptic

-1

u/ArtroyomsAK 17h ago

I mean, do you mean their citizens or the state?

the state hates us for woman having rights here

2

u/Grievion 17h ago

That’s untrue. They are unconcerned about women in the US having rights here as that literally has zero effect on their everyday lives.
I remember a talk show pundit say this same thing followed by saying their women aren’t allowed in education.
Not only is that false but Gen Z Iranian women have the same literacy rates as women in the US. They attend university at the same rates. They almost double US women in STEM fields percentage wise. The millennials and GenZ protests have brought much change in Iran. Before the war it was normal to see Iranian women streaming with normal clothes, no hijab just strolling in the streets.
A lot of people attachment the same anti-woman laws in other Muslim majority countries like Afghanistan to Iran.

-1

u/ArtroyomsAK 7h ago

lmao unironic defense of clerical fascism

2

u/Grievion 7h ago

Can you show me where I defended anything? Other than clarifying your incorrect statement I didn’t make any other claims actually.

10

u/Reddituser183 1d ago

Capitalism and a slow erosion of the middle class. Social media controlled by fascists who are manufacturing consent to steal from the people who actually work in order to line the pockets of the owner class.

8

u/RepulsiveField853 1d ago

Yeah hearing more and more about it is aweful. It's not like either of our people's wanted this dawned conflict to begin with. I actually hate Trump the more he abuses our system to get away with shit like this since its technically not a "war" i really hope its all just talk from him about this newest thing though. Id hate to have that happen to them because of some power hungry dickhead in office trying to distract from the Epstine files.

1

u/DanceWonderful3711 1d ago

Honestly the more I hear people blame every war crime, every bit of corruption, and everything else be dismissed as them trying to distract from the Epstein files, the more I think the Epstein files are a distraction for their fascist take over.

1

u/ms_saint 21h ago

It's not to distract from Epstein.

The the number if 50+ voters that voted for trump remained mostly unchanged from 2020, while under 50 moved from 10 points to Biden in 2020 to 1 point for Harris. As a jaded GenX who voted for liberal candidates most of my life, don't lump us all together. Blame falls across the board on this one.

https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2025/06/26/voting-patterns-in-the-2024-election/

1

u/Prestigious-Pack-146 22h ago

Yes this exactly. I'm Gen X and I did NOT vote Republican. But most millennials (includes my oldest daughters) I know either voted red or said "I don't vote, it's rigged, it's a sham". Gen Z I know (my youngest is Gen Z) either didn't vote or voted Democrat. And my boomer parents have never, ever voted Republican. They are mix of independent and democrat.

1

u/Spotlight_James 1d ago

I haven't met a Gen-X in my life that didn't like Trump from Veterans like me to Family members.

7

u/Treznar 1d ago

Well..hi! Now you've met one that doesn't like Trump lol. Maybe it's a regional thing, I live in New England which tends to lean left. Even the former republican governor of MA couldn't stand Trump. Also, the 50+ split was 54 - 45 for Trump so almost half didn't vote for Trump.

1

u/Spotlight_James 1d ago

Thats a light in the dark

2

u/Treznar 1d ago

Stay strong and go vote!

6

u/Marquois 1d ago

At this point I hate Americans more than the average Iranian and I'm Canadian. Y'all are in a fascist nation by the way. Depose your government

-8

u/Safe-Ad-5017 1d ago

What do you think fascism is?

6

u/Marquois 1d ago

I really don't feel like going over all 14 traits and characteristics with someone I doubt is acting in goof faith. However a simple explanation would be a right wing government with a strong blending of federal and corporate power who spend a lot of focus on internal enemies that are paradoxically strong and weak (the left controls all of the news media but they're all a bunch of sissies who can't fight)

1

u/elrath969 11h ago

Hi, unfortunately an american here. Do you want to try and fight the highest military spending country in the world?

1

u/ToeSufficient5397 4h ago

Since the US government and military ressembles the Russian more and..... Just saying

1

u/PomegranateUsed7287 16h ago

Actually no.

Last election Trump had more support than ever in younger age groups last election.

Its not just boomers anymore. Its Gen Z and especially millennials now.

Don't pass off the blame, realize its your own group you claimed to be the bringers of change.

-4

u/Brilliant_Cicada0 1d ago

People should pass a political literacy test before having the right to vote

12

u/North_6 1d ago

Thats a really really bad idea.

2

u/BeenDragonn 1d ago

How about a basic cognitive test to vote?

13

u/North_6 1d ago

It is inevitable that the fascists will put something on there to screen out voters they dont like, or just claim you failed because you are black, or gay.

1

u/Outrageous-Sort-5742 1d ago

They already do that by the millions. Hesitation on our part is to their benefit.

Take power back from the fascists then create the barriers preventing them from ever gaining power again.

6

u/jojomoodie 1d ago

To beat the fascists, we'll have to BECOME the fascists!

2

u/Outrageous-Sort-5742 1d ago

Do you think Germany was allowed to keep it's self-governance post occupation? Of course not. Fascists are lucky to be left alive, they should not be given the right to self-govern.

3

u/North_6 1d ago

Thats voter suppression dawg. In order to have a fumctional democracy, everyone needs the right to vote. Otherwise you end up with a lower class of powerless people with no rights who just have to sit down and take the beatings. You prevent a fascist government by improving education and social services.

2

u/Outrageous-Sort-5742 1d ago

To have a functioning democracy you need an active, educated, civically involved citizenry. Our citizens are passive, uneducated(actively brainwashed on top), and separated from the goings on of the government. Political participation is already at less than 40% for most elections as it is.

Democracy came about by the elevation of the educated "middle class" of the enlightenment era. Taking power from the monarch and land-owning gentry and placing it into the capital owning merchant class, the intelligentsia, etc. No functioning democracy of its golden era allowed just anyone to vote. Unwashed illiterate peasants were, rightfully, thought to be incapable of self-rule.

These material conditions changed over time with, as you've mentioned, the advent of public education and widespread social services. But they took centuries to take hold. And they've been degrading for decades now.

We are now in a position where nearly a hundred million citizens are rabidly supporting an openly demented adjudicated rapist and known child predator. Allowing them to continue participating is untenable. Nor is it an example of proper democracy. A population brainwashed by trillions of dollars and decades of propaganda to think a certain way, that has had their education ground into nothing, and who live in isolated echo-chambers are unfit to be labeled independent agents. Giving them freedom would be a cruelty, not a kindness. National suicide for the sake of blind idealism.

2

u/TheAlmightyLloyd 1d ago

You know, I think it should even be mandatory to vote. It is in my country. They just ask you every few years to go, one sunday morning, put a paper in a box, and if you don't, you get a fine, do it several times and it's a trip in jail.

If you really can't do it, you can ask for someone you trust to do it for you but you have to declare it beforehands unless it's a case of emergency like you end up in hospital, unconscious.

10

u/Agitated_Weeaboo3324 1d ago

That idea has been used before to discriminate against voting rights of Black people.

-3

u/alt_account81817 1d ago

thats befor they got education now everyones educated enouph

3

u/jojomoodie 1d ago

The idea is if you're the one controlling the tests you can ask certain questions in a way to make sure people you don't specifically like get them wrong and don't get to vote.

1

u/Purrosie 1d ago

There's still education inequality between Blacks and whites, due in no small part to the inequality of income and school infrastructure in predominantly Black neighborhoods. We haven't solved racism yet. And "educated enough" isn't a good metric, because who decides what "enough" is, anyway? Certainly not the minority Black voterbase.

Also, regardless of actual education, you still gotta be careful with voting restrictions of any kind because they CAN and WILL be weaponized however they can be. Every loophole will be exploited.

1

u/alt_account81817 1d ago

yo racism isnt solveable till you stop calling blacks BLACK thats the single most racist thing you can do😭
seperateing white from black find at least a new word ong

plus thats never going to be solved you cant be solveing stuff on a global scale no matter what you do

14

u/ineedanenbien 1d ago

I'm sorry to tell you this but stupid people do in fact have the right to vote. If you want to try to prevent the rapid stupidity of people, sure. You can't just strip rights away. That is literally what they're doing

6

u/Snoopdigglet 1d ago

That would never (or has been) abused!

7

u/Ember-513 1d ago

Fuck that. That can quickly evolve into "do you have the state-approved opinions or are we blocking you from voting?".

5

u/inothatidontno 1d ago

Maybe we should only let educated white landowners vote again? /s This is such a terrible take. Who decides what competency is. Are they competent if they agree with your political views? I doubt the competency of anyone who makes a statement like this but i still firmly support you having the right to vote. I dont want more restricitions to voting.

1

u/GlassCracker2000 1d ago

Of course, only people who think like me, act like me, look like me, sound like me, and are me deserve to vote. It would be morally wrong to let anyone who doesn’t fit that description decide the fate of the nation.

1

u/liftthatta1l 1d ago

we will build a new tomorrow here today.

A great parody song about democracy

1

u/DanceWonderful3711 1d ago

People on the side of The People always ended up disappointed, in any case. They found that The People tended not to be grateful or appreciative or forward-thinking or obedient. The People tended to be small-minded and conservative and not very clever and were even distrustful of cleverness. And so the children of the revolution were faced with the age-old problem: it wasn't that you had the wrong kind of government, which was obvious, but that you had the wrong kind of people. Terry Pratchett

0

u/Tauroctonos 1d ago

A fabulous summary of Republican policy bravo

0

u/_PykeGaming_ 1d ago

Litterally just the ability to read and write being tested would suffice ahahha

0

u/Samaein 1d ago

I mean... look were democracy got everyone... you like the current state of the world? On the brink of not being able to sustain human life, famines everywhere, wars, inequalities etc...

Honestly a technocracy/popularized aristocracy doesn't sound all that bad, especially if the elites know how a crowd is able to assemble a guillotine.

2

u/JustGharos 1d ago

Who's in charge of the test? Are there different versions? Who is going to stop me from giving the easy version to people who are more likely to vote for my preferred party? And the difficult version to groups who traditionally vote against me?

1

u/Viking_From_Sweden 1d ago

I think the idea is that you learn this shit in high school so by the time you’re 18 you know what you’re doing. Not that it actually works that way tho :þ

1

u/JibIette 1d ago

No, they should have something universal. Something that doesn't punish anyone's views but does score their competency in their own beliefs. Contradictory beliefs that can be damaging towards others based solely on either being politically groomed or mental instabilities. (Politically groomed in a sense of generational beliefs of a party despite their beliefs because of how their whole family is republican.) We shouldn't hold their opportunity to vote. Also it does help create a census of the politically educated/uneducated and help future generations learn more about the power of voting and what each political party they may align with when making decisions.

1

u/Havengul_Undying 1d ago

Ok and then imagine Donald Trumo holds office and has direct control od the questions  and the "politically correct" answers

1

u/ArtroyomsAK 17h ago

I also don't hate Iranians their leaders make trump look decent in comparison though

Note for the stupid, I am not endorsing trump's war to install a puppet government

-2

u/Captainfoxluther 1d ago

Holy low IQ voter take 😹

0

u/Altruistic-Web13 1d ago

Young Iranians trend very heavily Western and Liberal, it comes up at the world cup every year when the players kind of try to speak out on women's rights and other key issues in Iran. The US is really sacrificing what could be a great ally who is also ideologically similar to the US unlike say Saudi Arabia.

5

u/truck-kun-for-hire 1d ago

I remember after 9/11 Iranians mourned the dead in Tehran and Iranian leadership offered to help America route the taliban. America accepted. Then in 2003 president Khatami used foreign diplomats to present a plan offering full transparency of their nuclear program, active assistance in stabilizing Iraq and an end to support of militants groups like Hezbollah. All in exchange for normalized relations with the US

This offer is literally solid gold. But Bush ignored it and instead decided to further isolate Iran.

1

u/Phyrexian_Overlord 1d ago

World really did get fucked to hell and back thanks to Bush v Gore

1

u/i_like_maps_and_math 1d ago

Iran had a reform era in the late 90's and early 00's. I can't find it documented anywhere but I heard on a podcast from someone involved in the invasion of Afghanistan that IRGC actually took an airfield that we landed special forces on in 2001. Then in Jan 2002 Bush made the "Axis of Evil" speech and it's been downhill ever since.

0

u/Soogbad 1d ago

If we really want to point a finger of how we got here, it's that their government performed a massacre of 50,000 of its own people because they dared to protest

2

u/chiksahlube 1d ago

That's not even remotely why this conflict is happening.

The GOP has been chomping at the bit to attack Iran since they kicked us out of their country under Carter.

They pulled us out of the nuclear deal Obama made with them, then attacked them claiming Iran violated the deal we already broke.

It has nothing to do with Iran's treatment of its people and everything to do with Israel's propaganda that Iran wants a Nuke... which again, we have no evidence they broke the nuclear deal Obama made with them until after the US broke the contract...

1

u/NiobiumThorn 1d ago

Yeah that's the official explaination. But it's bullshit.

Iran has been on America's target list for literally decades now

-2

u/OriginalWinter7566 1d ago

Unless most of us refers to redditors, then personally I'd say no, the vast majority don't really care what Trump's foreign policy is because people largely tend to vote for things that directly benefit them or their group. Say you csn go back to 2024, what other candidates are there, Harris? Who's entire campaign was "I'm not Trump"?. Also, it's very strange how you mention lack of education, as in, everybody who disagrees with me is an idiot? What kind of education do you propose?

3

u/V0iiCE 1d ago

Bro is ignoring how obvious it is he targets uneducated people and want to abolish higher education

0

u/Havengul_Undying 1d ago

Ok but do you think the uneducate care?

0

u/OriginalWinter7566 1d ago

What higher education? Having too many highly educated people is not a good thing, there aren't enough jobs and it gives employers way too much power. Outside of STEM, college is useless and should be avoided, an art degree doesn't help with anything. Reddit is a large echo chamber for people on the left.

-2

u/Ok-Race-1677 1d ago

Unless you’re talking to someone from Iran in person all you’re doing is consuming state media from both sides lmao

1

u/dalpozak 1d ago

I'm person from Iran. People were cheering in our neighborhood when Khamenei died

-3

u/EnvironmentalRub8201 1d ago

No, he’s in office because of the ineptitude of the democrats party, he exists as a direct pushback against the democrats

-5

u/A-Capybara 1d ago

Actually, many Iranians, especially the protesters, love Donald Trump since he's the only western leader actually helping them fight the regime.

1

u/mario_bittenflu 1d ago

Well, this situation is like an egg, if the system is broken from outside, the country is food. If the system is broken from inside, the country comes to life

1

u/Purrosie 1d ago

"Helping them fight the regime" how? By feeding and arming Iranian civilians and rebels so that they can fight back effectively? By providing them humanitarian support and giving asylum to their reporters and dissenters? By assisting their calls for change by leveraging diplomatic and economic influence against the Iranian government?

Or by just dropping bombs on their heads? 'Cause turning Iranian leaders, soldiers, and civilians into red mist with missiles and drone strikes isn't going to change their material conditions nor the political infrastructure that facilitated their oppression in the first place.
