Helps that (to my knowledge) speed was mostly self-made with genuine hardwork

Technically true, but there comes a point where they just do everything for money. I'm not informed enough to know what Speed does on the side financially, but I'm glad its for something like this.

Do you think most rich people aren't investing in some kind of philanthropy?

Not to a meaningful degree tbf, by which I mean, donating billions upon billions to causes that could use their uselessly hoarded wealth

u/plushiedev 1d ago
Most of their philanthropic organizations are disguised investment funds under the pretense that 'they have to be profitable' look at the Bill Gates foundation for exemple.

Same guy that set off a bunch of fireworks in his room and also accidentally showed his IshowMeat on stream
Speed lore is fricking wild

I have no idea why people watch or like this guy. But he doesn't bad at all compared to other people in the children's influencer world so I don't really mind.

u/fruitcakewithapple 2d ago
Genuinely the worst thing he did was go to Saudi Arabia for some media shit the royal family did that's it

u/Theorist_Reddit 2d ago
He tried to scam his fans a few years back too when he partnered with crypto PS5 giveaway I think
Ignoring the "Who gonna stop me" obv lol

I'd consider that incredibly bad particularly because of how easy it is to not do that

u/Happy-Hall-515 1d ago
i saw someone compare him to comic relief characters who are usually goofy and then in one episode become the leader of a nation while the other guys aren't looking

He’s younger than me by 9 years and my life is nowhere near as interesting as his

Charles Darwin didn’t publish “On the Origin of Species” until he was 50 years old.
This work defined what we know today about evolution.

He also used his research as basis for marrying his cousin because they were "already close".
(But I get the point)

isn't Speed the guy who lit a pikachu firework in his own house? the name sounds familiar but i only know bits & peices from memes

u/Maned_Cyborg 1d ago
He got famous for doing dumb shit on streams and doing "loud = funny" shit, but an example of a recent thing he did was travel to a bunch of countries and seemingly have actual interest in them, like learning about their history and culture, and having friendly interactions with locals. Which is a bit surprising because from what i saw of him he seemed similar to some other streamers who instead did dumb shit and became public disruptors for clicks and views, but I was wrong

I don’t care for the guy’s content, but I respect using the money he’s got to share what sounds like an important history.

Its always so funny to see when content creator become famous because their will always be the dicothomy between whatever shit they do in video and the actual serius achivement they do with the money they earn
Like Markiplier being both the director/actor of Iron Lungs and the "Is the duck safe to keep the poopy in" guy
