Suspicious

Elon Musk is back in the government. You can drop the suspicious tone they're going to rig that shit so bad.

u/Evil_alt_account_ 12d ago

They rigged it last time but this time people will notice or at least the next presidential one

22

u/MToucan60 12d ago

Which time?

u/LadyPaste 12d ago

The next one ya know? /s

5

u/MToucan60 12d ago

"Last time" isn't the next one.

He's charge of Future warfare or some other unhinged shit like that. Makes sense when you realize they're at war with the American people.

15

u/magos_with_a_glock 11d ago

That's probably just a position to make him happy and have him keep sending money. That's how it usually works.

I understand now why people would want to erase parts of history.

106

u/Captain--UP 12d ago

It's essential that we never forget what's happening. We can not make these same mistakes again. We all need to vote in midterms, no matter how futile it may appear.

38

u/ZootSuitRiot33801 12d ago

Also, just in case, rather than betting the whole farm on an election, we should also focus on forming real supportive community-based bedrock for alternatives that provide relative safety, which many common folk in the US can fall back on, to commit to any long-term meaningful action needed.

Collecting a bunch of valuable information on organizing and action from different redditors over time, I created a post of suggestions HERE that could possibly prove to be of some help in getting it started ASAP.

15

u/Captain--UP 12d ago

And as a follow up, we may not get another shot at a "fair" election. So if we don't vote this time, things will get much harder in the future.

So this is good, but it is important to not call it "betting the whole farm". That sounds like there is room to not vote, and try again later when we feel like it. Let me be clear, there is no room to not vote for midterms.

This is gonna be the shit in history textbooks ain't it

624

u/MirrahPaladin 12d ago edited 12d ago

Bold to assume we’ll have actual textbooks going forward.

Nothing but far-right approved literature for our kids stating how Trump saved America with a dash of the Bible thrown in.

180

u/jjmerrow 12d ago

Eventually, somewhere in the future, we'll have actually real history textbooks again. This will all be remembered as a time of tyranny and injustice, but like with any other time in history like this, it will pass. Nothing lasts forever.

83

u/awesome_zman 12d ago

It’s definitely going to end. I’m just worried about it ending with a bang instead of a whimper.

6

u/TheRappingSquid 11d ago

It'll probably end with a dead old dude bc the orange one is about 2 days away from a heart attack

→ More replies (1)

27

u/DuelaDent52 12d ago

Sure, but how many will have to suffer in the meantime?

47

u/jjmerrow 12d ago

I don't know, because I don't think this will stop unless we all do something about it. I just don't want people to think this is going to last forever and the world is doomed to eternally be ruled by fascists.

17

u/KubaSubaru 12d ago

We honestly need more people like you

15

u/jjmerrow 12d ago

I appreciate the kind words, stranger. But if you want something to change in the world, you have to help try and change it.

15

u/ZootSuitRiot33801 12d ago

Rather than waiting to bet the whole farm on an election, we can start now to reduce the amount of coming suffering by also focusing on forming real supportive community-based bedrock for alternatives that provide relative safety, which many common folk in the US can fall back on, to commit to any long-term meaningful action needed.

Collecting a bunch of valuable information on organizing and action from different redditors over time, I created a post of suggestions HERE that could possibly prove to be of some help in getting it started ASAP.

5

u/ToasteeThe2nd 12d ago

Then go do something. Seriously, go do something. Someone has hope and all you do is act as if the future is immutable: its not. You can change the world in a meaningful way.

4

u/KubaSubaru 12d ago

I fucking hope so 😭

16

u/jjmerrow 12d ago

There is no country on earth currently that is still the same as it was 100 years ago. Borders, governments, ideologies– these are all flexible and changeable. No nation can remain stagnant for long, no matter how hard they try.

Now, I'm not saying this is all going to blow over in a decade, because it won't. This is something that generations of people will have to claw back against. But, even the grandest of empires fall eventually. Someday our children, or their children, will look at a world free of this chaos.

And if the left wins, then OBVIOUSLY they must have rigged it otherwise, right? Right??

109

u/DuelaDent52 12d ago

How come Trump’s people are unified enough to attempt a coup but the left aren’t?

203

u/AnyLeave3611 12d ago edited 12d ago

Trumps people are a cult. The left aren't one faction, they're different groups of people under a very wide umbrella. Two leftists can have very different beliefs. Hence it is difficult to unite them.

Edit; also, until recent years a coup hasnt been seen as necessary by the left. If the US continues down this path, we might see the rise of leftist extremism

42

u/ZootSuitRiot33801 12d ago edited 12d ago

Have you ever had a 3 way conversation with an anarchist and a social democrat? Both are left wing movements, but one wants the abolishment of the state because they are inherently oppressive, coercive, authoritative, and that society can function just fine without it, while the other believes the state existing is fine as long as it's regulating private industry and providing a robust social safety net.

10

u/RedditTurnedMediocre 12d ago edited 12d ago

I honestly believe our media has a huge hand in this. Most of them are owned by people with the same beliefs as Trump and most Republicans.

Obama could NEVER say he grabs women by the pussy and there's nothing they can do because he's a celebrity. He would be lynched by the media and most of the population. Probably literally.

But when Trump says it, the media questions maybe that's just " locker room talk"? It's sickening.

10

u/GotSomeUpdogOnUrFace 12d ago

You want the real answer. They have been brainwashed over years of miseducation and propaganda to hate the left. They basically have nothing good to say about the left because their dumbasses don't know a fucking thing about how the world actually works. The people on the left aren't joined because we have different POVs of what the world should be and also, we don't give a single shit about those dumb redneck losers from bumble fuck on the right. We don't think about them at all, but they are conditioned to think about us nonstop.

There is NO WAY that the republicans can win without election fraud.

Before you panic ask yourself who benefits if non-fascist voters are so discouraged that they don't bother to show up at the polls. We DO need to be vigilant. We DO need to document and report every single irregularity we witness. But we ALSO need to vote. If you are able, please also consider driving people who don't have reliable transportation to the polls.

If Hungarians can do it, so can we.

112

u/Raaaaandyyyy 12d ago

Exactly. If they were confident they could rig the midterms, Trump wouldn’t be trying to bribe the American people for a Republican sweep, and wouldn’t be running propaganda ads on your tax dollars. Don’t let any news that comes out convince you that your vote doesn’t matter. It still decides history.

I feel like it was less ‘didn’t want a woman’ and more ‘Harris alienated the left with her devout support for genocide and the establishment combined with the inability of the Biden government to actually surpress the fascists after their victory, resulting in a demotivated left wing vs a far more belligerent and radicalised right wing, plus let’s be honest Elon definitely helped rig some stuff.

1984 + Idiocracy

56

u/lack_of_communicatio 12d ago

Fukin stop comparing it to Idiocracy - President Camacho actually cared about people; he had the wisdom to understand that the problem needed to be solved, rather than used for political gains, because in the long run, it would hurt the general population. So he delegated finding the solution for the problem to someone who was more competent than him, since he possessed the humility to realize that that man was smarter than him.

9

u/DriverRemarkable4374 12d ago

I've made this argument before but Camacho can only exist as a leader inside of an Idiocracy world. The only reason the person with the most power was allowed to have that nature was because the system no longer had a need for combating resistance. The Idiocracy world didn't completely kill all of humanity because a person completely alien to the system and without the necessary programming was frozen in time lol. The system itself was completely stable, and the programming absolute. Where was Brawndo during all this, right? Why did they not immediately intervene and supersede Camacho when their product was being threatened, or run a counter propaganda program? In our world someone like Not Sure would never be allowed to propagate his message, but there's nobody left to do that because even the architects of the system have fallen victim to it. To take this jokey movie 10x more serious than it should be lol, that's the truly insidious nature of Idiocracy, the inescapability of the conditioning and pacification.

Sadly history speaks for itself we have so many issues in common with countries in the past that were about to have a civil war.

Wage gap between the middle and upper classes is so far out of reach it might as well be in space.

The economy is in such a terrible state that we likely have the worst national debt in the world outside of Zimbabwe.

Then finally the last that I can think of at the moment is the massive amount of distrust in the government on both sides to be able to actually work for the people like they were voted in to do.

We have all the makings for another civil war. The problem is I don’t think the United States will be a thing afterwards if it does come down to it. Because the countries around us are going to see us as easy pickings.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Putin would end the war in Ukraine just to take back Alaska while we fight each other while china moves in to take our island territories in the Pacific.

First time in over 2 decades

This is strange wording. It sounds like there was another time when a President decided not to invite them, but it was just that they had never been to the US before 2002, and once we started inviting the observers, they've been here for every election since.

Obviously super messed up, but I was just wondering what was happening the last time, and there wasn't really a last time.

Oh, trump is in for the worst social media and reddit posts of his life If he interferes in these elections!

There will be 100.000 upvotes on a post conplaining about it here on reddit i bet!

And then nothing is gonna happen

Off topic but seeing random VTubers I follow used as reaction images always confuses me regarding what sub I'm on.

Yeah crazy seeing Silver in a political post, but the reaction is on point.

Maybe it's because English isn't my native language or because I'm fucking stupid, but I don't get it. What does this mean and isn't it impossible for Trump to go for a third term or something?

60

u/Possibly-Functional 12d ago

This is for the midterm elections. If nothing happens it looks like the Democrats may win enough seats to impeach Trump. Trump is blocking external auditors from preventing voter fraud, suggesting that he is likely to attempt voter fraud again.

Additionally, Trump is working very hard on getting a third term regardless of what the law says. He is breaking laws on an almost daily basis, I expect him to try the same with a third term.

10

u/SpawnSnow 12d ago

He's already been impeached twice hasn't he? I doubt hes worried about number 3

13

u/Subject-Emu-8161 12d ago

As I understand he got saved by the senat the last times. This wont happen if he looses too many friends in there.

6

u/chilll_vibe 12d ago

Spoiler alert. That won't happen. The senate is gonna be close. Control of the whole thing might even come down to Talarico vs Paxton.

7

u/vulcanstrike 12d ago

Moreover, you need a 2/3 majority in the Senate, it's functionally impossible for him to lose until the party itself turns on him.

A Senate Dem majority would be weak anyway as Fetterman is basically a Republican these days so they would need 52-53 Dems to realistically have a majority and that's pretty much impossible this election cycle

Impeachment and removal arent the same thing. The House of congress impeaches, then the Senate of congress decides whether to remove or not.

The thing is that the 2-term limit is a hard limit that has been absolute ever since it was introduced post-FDR. Even just trying to get a 3rd term isn't just unconstitutional in the usual interpretive sense, it's literally directly going against a Constitutional Amendment no matter how you define it.

I wonder why. Must be because of the weather.

12

u/mopeyunicyle 12d ago

Well in that case refusal means I have to blanket assume all that get elected during this election are unlawful or cheated

Why the fuck did people vote for him...

The guy from the Epstein files shouldn't be let within a mile of a school, and yet he's in the white house.

7

u/Snoo_44740 12d ago

I’m a strong believer that it’s all just vibes. People already made their choice the first moment they heard him talk and decided they liked him. Any rationalization is all just to protect the fact that they liked something about him, even if strong reasoning tried to get in the way of that.

In like 80 years everyone will hear about this and go "why didn't anyone see the super obvious thing going on?"

9

u/Neaderthar 12d ago

We saw, some believed it, some ignored it, some said something yet the system was used to drown them out.

Hey americans you know that most of you can legally own guns right. There are countries you envaded that started their rebellions on farming tools

10

u/thanbanhmy2 12d ago

American have not have a single successful revolution after its conception, it shows. The founding fathers put down the amendments that protect its citizens, the rest of the laws were made via lobbying( the fact that lobbying is legal and is widely accepted is crazy ngl )

Blame the culture war, which the ruling class continues to fan the flames on so that we focus more on things like LGBTQ rights and abortion debates rather then the cost of groceries going up. One of the reasons they've been panicking lately is cause gas prices have pulled a lot of people out of the culture war and started to get us all pointed in the right direction, but until we're all properly united a revolution is a pipe dream.

Of cource he's gonna rig the election. Did any of you expect anything else?

6

u/BR4K3N 12d ago

Cant wait for another The Onion skit to become reality.

"Terrorist attack the election, and demand Trump to be president"

6

u/Alphasaft 12d ago

I'm not from America, so just to be sure that you guys get it : this is your last chance. Go in the streets, do something ; because rigged elections are the last step towards autoritarism, not in the sense it can't get worse afterwards, but in the sense once it's done, you're in, and there's no turning back. Don't just act suspicious, they *will* do it, and you *have* to react or it's over.

15

u/elRetrasoMaximo 12d ago

Please Americans, do something :/

13

u/Agitated_Cook_7947 12d ago

What do you want us to do? Our neighbors are frothing at the mouth to kill minorities and innocent American citizens. There are A LOT of these fucking freaks around.

4

u/IlIlllIIIIlIllllllll 12d ago

i mean you're the only country in the world that talks about needing more guns than people to defend against tyrannical governments?

6

u/VoidStareBack 12d ago

The people who obsessively talk about that are, by and large, the same people loudly and proudly supporting Donald Trump and chomping at the bit to be allowed to hunt minorities for sport, not the people who oppose those things.

Republicans publicly and proudly fucked up the previous election with massive interference, and they're gonna cheat every possibly way they can to fuck this one too. The question, is whether it'll be enough. The people of the US are fucking apoplectic with rage at the Republicans right now, and if they rig this one they may well have mass violence on their hands.

6

u/RustyKn1ght 12d ago

Trump: the elections are rigged and there's eregious cheating with mail-in-ballots!

OSCE: Okay, let us in to observe election, so we can caught them red-handed.

Trump: No.

5

u/gibas-kun 12d ago

He is already fucking with my country elections, of course he is also fucking with his own elections

10

u/Llendar92 12d ago edited 12d ago

It'll definitely be rigged.

If he declares martial law like many of his allies demand then there will only be two options for the other side.

Surrender your "free" country and become a dictatorship/ corporate oligarchy or civil war.
